Running Smash Tournaments as a Fundraiser

I've been asked by the youth group of my church to run a smash tournament to raise funds for their group. Usually the tournaments I run have all of the entry fee go to the pot (I have a suitable venue, and we have enough volunteers now to bring setups, so usually I don't charge an entry fee), so I am having trouble with trying to find a way to make a profit for the group without feeling like i'm gouging the playerbase.

What I'm planning to do is charge $10, and have half go to the pot while the rest can go for food and for fundraising. My goal is to raise $100, and I am expecting at the very least 20 people to show up, but since my target audience is youth who probably don't have jobs, I'm trying to see if I can reduce the entry fee somewhere closer to $5

Does anyone have any tips regarding smash tournaments as fundraisers? Any help would greatly be appreciated

If you're doing it as a fundraiser, perhaps consider making the prize something other than cash? Maybe an amiibo or something could go to the winner, and you could use the entrance fees for food and fundraising. I also think that if you stated what the cause for fundraising is (i.e. cancer research), then more people would understand that it is not a super serious tournament, and it would be more of a friendly event/competition to help raise money for a good cause.
