RPG Maker Issues

Ok, so I've heard a lot of hype about RPG Maker XP, and I wanted to download it. I went to the official site, downloaded it, and installed it. Within minutes, Ad-aware had detected a rogue spyware program (I forget the name, sorry). I thought this was strange, and wondered if it was something I had picked up off another site that had simply been caught in the weekly scan. I got rid of it, and moved on. Well, RPG Maker was being difficult, and I couldn't find it anywhere on my computer, so I uninstalled it when I finally did. I later downloaded VX, and not only got the same rogue spyware, but also a keylogger (Power Spy). After a mild panic attack, I took care of the issue, and uninstalled VX. I don't think either did any damage, and I doubt the keylogger got anything because ad-aware was on it in a second, and there was nothing in the registry, or any dll or exe files when I manually searched for them. Since then, I've done numerous scans, and nothing has come up. As a test, I tried to download RPG Maker XP yet again, and yet again, I got the spyware as soon as I installed it.

I tried to do some research on the issue of the RPG Maker and malware, but have found no results. Nobody else seems to have had this problem. So does anyone have any advice? Is this a common problem, something I should just overlook, an exploit on the software, or what? I'd really like to use the program, and nobody else seems to have had any complaints.

Some basic info: I'm running Windows Vista, I'm using Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition, and I got the files from download.com after I was redirected from the site. (Another reason I was perplexed, Download.com has always been a safe site for me)

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help. Thanks!

its probably just the virus software freaking out anyways, its probably not infected, but check it by downloading from an unrelated site if you still get the same problem its probably nothing.
