Roy's White Fireblade -- Help?

Once in a while, Roy's fire blade animations will be white instead of the traditional fire-effect like it normally does. This appears to happen randomly for an entire match. This occurs on both Dolphin and my Wii.

Any idea what could be causing this issue?

Hmm I've encountered this on Dolphin but I wasn't aware it happens on the Wii also. I'd like to know what causes this as well, I always assumed it was a Dolphin graphical error.

It may help that I specify that I'm using a Project M ISO, as my SD slot on my Wii is broken.
