The only reason I see as to why people support Chrom is because of how big of an impact his game had, never anything good to say about Chrom himself. I feel Awakening can be represented in many other ways, but if you really want a character to represent it, Marth and (to a lesser extent) Ike already represent the game to an extent.
Nothing good to say about Chrom? Well, let me be one of the first then. He's got a good head on his shoulders and was willing to put his life on the line to protect his friends, his family and his country. He was optimistic, always looking for the best in a situation that looked grim, he was a strong leader and surely showed he has what it takes to not only rule Ylisse, but protect and fight for it as well. He put everyone's safety before his own, never questioning the chances of whether he could die in battle or not, he fought for others, not for himself.

That good enough?

This is something I disagree on; I think characters can be just as much a representation of their games as they can themselves. Mario, by himself, isn't an overly fascinating character; however, he is legendary from his games. Lucas seemed pointless to add with Ness already available, but Ness doesn't represent MOTHER 3. I think Chrom follows suit to the success of Fire Emblem Awakening just fine, and justifiably so.

Discuss my roster :

• Amongst the elite 5, IMO, only 3 will make the cut : Mewtwo, Little Mac and Palutena.
I know it's taboo here to not put Ridley nor K. Rool on the roster, but I sincerely don't see them in the next SSB (even if I'm hoping to be wrong).

• Jigglypuff is cut. Is somebody capable of giving me an answer about why they are keeping her here even if she's not revelant anymore ? (SSB64 I know, but I heard that Ness would have been cut in Brawl if Mother 3 wasn't delayed). So, I would prefer a Kalos trainer with the 3 new starters which is more revelant.

• Ike is cut and replaced with Chrom and Robin (I'm biased here, because I really want the Avatar xD)

• Smash Bros is about representing all the history of Nintendo, not just the big ones. So, new franchises are added : Golden Sun (Isaac), Xenoblade (Shulk), Sutte Hakkun (Hakkun), Duck Hunter (the dog), Punch Out (Little Mac) and the new IP that Miyamoto is working on (what do you think ?). We have thus, both new and retro franchises.

I know that my roster is really different from what we saw here, and I also know that some characters won't make the cut (Bomberman, both Shulk and Isaac, Hakkun nor the dog) but I wanted to add some diversity to the roster, because this is what Smash Bros is about.
I like it, although I strongly disagree with no Ridley or K.Rool and
-Zelda should have a 5th character, most preferably Vaati
-If you're going to replace Jigglypuff with someone, it should be Meowth
-Replace Chrom with Ike, there is no need to replace Ike
-I generally don't think Hakkun and DHD are very good of choices
-Bomberman is owned by Konami, so he probably on't make it.
Other than that I'm fine with it.

Actually, I was one of the only ones to have Rosalina in my roster. This is the achievement of my life, and one day I'll tell my children "Y'know, one day I predicted Sakurai" and the will be fascinated .
I had Rosalina on my roster before 3d World.:bee: Although at that point, I had 6 Mario characters, so I had Bowser Jr too until her reveal for 3d world and the Galaxy stage. At that point, she made way more sense.

Ness wasn't almost cut in brawl, that was melee. Only the second game. Then he came back for brawl, alongside Lucas.

Jiggs is staying, and we are not getting 2 Pokemon trainers.

• Vaati was one of my most wanted character in the Brawl era, but not anymore. I'm always hoping for him to be the hidden antagonist of any new zelda, but I'm always disapointed. So I don't expect him anymore...
• In my opinion, pokemon has enough 1st generation representation. We should have the 6th generation represented !
• If Chrom is not playable, Robin won't be playable too :(
• I know for Bomberman. I think he's more representative to the Nintendo universe than Snake and Pacman, but too bad that Konami is already represented, and that Pacman will take his spot.

I didn't mean it like that, I'm saying the main reasons why people pick Chrom is because of the merits of his game. If Pikmin 3 added a ton of new content and became the most successful Pikmin game and saved the series from dying would we be putting Alph into the game?

If I recall, people have already tried putting Alph in their rosters.

It's a tough choice between Goroh and Blach Shadow.

GOROH:
- Melee's intro and assist trophy
- Falcon's rival (closer ties to character)
- Villain

B. SHADOW:
- Popular in JP
- Can inherit Ganondorf's old moveset, Ganondorf can get a well-deserved new one
- Villain

Tough choice indeed, but I'm leaning towards Black Shadow.
Why would somebody need to take Ganondorf's old moveset?

How does that even work??
Because it's Layton. You're questioning a guy who made a glider out of home furniture and bones of a pterodactyl, a giant catapult out of village materials, a helicopter out of garden appliances and of course, a slot machine gun out of a slot machine.

"Every puzzle has an answer" as he always says I guess.

See, I got something completely different; an overly trusting moron who relies on Robin's brains to get him out of obvious traps and ambushes he constantly walks into. He easily accepts Tharja of all people into his goddamn army despite the chance she could quite easily be a mole set up to destroy the army from within. He trusts Robin more than he trusts Fredrick, a wo/man he just met laying suspiciously in a field than his own bodyguard.
In the opening cutscene(this isn't spoilers as this is within the first few minutes of playing) Chrom is betrayed by Robin and dies for his naive foolishness.

Of course over the course of the game, things take a turn from that storyline, but...

I don't know, I couldn't get on with my first Lord. He just came off as a tool.

To each their own I guess.

.......But I like him with warlock punch :(

Also heres my roster. Not really a ssb4 roster more like an ideal, dream roster. Heck better suits a ssb5 roster instead of 4.
View attachment 7300
For a good ssb4 roster, I'd take out geno, maybe bowser jr., the new series rep, new kirby rep, blaziken, greninja, new zelda rep

Also couldnt find a non cg pic of lucas lol (incase you didnt catch it all pics are art or drawn)

Hakkun is another possiblity over lip. Put dixie in cause everyone expects her. I personally dont want her. Same with little mac

He was trying to take off from his sister's views, and learn to trust those that would normally seem untrustworthy. To fight alongside his men and fight for his country is trust, and trust pulls a team together. Without trust, what is there to hold things together? I have your back, you have mine, Chrom was a man of action that counts of his allies, fishy or not. And as I said, he put the safety and well-being of others before his own, he knew he could die in battle, but never did it stop him or slow him down. If he died...so be it, it was his thought pattern. It may be Naive, but it's honorable all the same.

We have like, 2 Duos already. One BEING a newcomer.
It's not really unique anymore.

Hmmm... I don't see that as a legitimate response. They are both very popular and important in the same game. And both fight similarly to Marth. We have never had a fighter with 2 swords or a sword duo team. It would be unique in that sense.

Why are people so sure they will be?

I mean, the Pair Up mechanic from Awakening is cool, and I kinda want to see Chrom and Lucina form a tag-team in Smash, but I don't know if it would be better than having Chrom by himself.

---
What would Sakurai do to differentiate Chrom or Lucina if they were to become separate fighters. Chrom is a mix of Marth and Ike. Lucina is basically a female Marth. They have the same sword... why not? It's more of a suggestion over speculation. But Chrom and Lucina as a team has a chance.

Why not just give Olimar rock and flying pikmin?
Because it feels less appropriate to give it to someone who never used them in Pikmin 3's story.

It's not really unique anymore.
Doesn't mean we can't make them more unique. I mean there's many more ways to make duos unique, Sakurai has made tons of solo characters unique before, why not duos?

I absolutely love Pikmin 3... easily one of the best games I have ever played in my life... I think it is better than the original Pikmin.
