I recently fought this Rob in for glory and man, he's so annoying. Unlike any other Rob I fought this one is very different. He keeps on spamming the top then when it doesn't hit me, he throws it again, then fires his laser. I didn't have a lot of options and I can barely even move and the only time I can move is when I get knocked out into the air. I tried using Peach's turnips to destruct him, but it still doesn't work. Even after I get knocked off stage the laser still hits me. It hits me before I even got the chance to air dodge it. So does anyone know how to deal with Rob when playing Peach? Thanks In advance.

I've played against wiigi, who mains rob and is considered one of the best in terms of the blossoming scene of smash 4

the top assuredly gave me problems, but if you shield the top, it disappears, much like your turnips
read how he likes to throw the top at you, and react accordingly
lazers you must learn how to dodge and shield correctly; they're a bit more troublesome to deal with than tops when it comes to consistently stopping them
you must play very patiently with rob, but go in hard when you get in --

approaching him is a matter of closing the distance with well timed shields and dodges, and clever use of the turnip.
once you get in, destroy him. rob is heavy, but he is very large as well; you should have no problem hitting him with any attack when you close the distance.
his offstage recovery is great, but can be discouraged with turnips, as any lapse in his up-b causes him to pause and suffer some slower start-up and more vertical movement-- use this strategically, and fair him accordingly, or nair/bair for the stage spike.

rob up throw kills-- be careful with that.

basically, use good shielding and dodging to get in,
and go hard on the paint once you're in there.
don't get sloppy close-quarters and get hit by a fast fall nair, because then the situation is reset and that's just what rob wants.
go hard and smart once you're in, and you should have no trouble keeping him out of the lead.

Okay, thank you so much and I will keep these in mind. Cause sometimes I get so inpatient with the tops and lasers that I approach him bu force, but now I know. Again thanks so much.

Oh and how about a ROB that keeps on using Side-B special? I can't seem to punish him properly, because if I try to punish it he would dodge it or I get accidentally hit by the last hits of his Side-B.

smash 4 has the special property of slowing down moves that have multiple hits which connect to something, whether it be shield or opponent. because of that, a lot of people end up mistiming the length of time they need to remain shielding in order to punish properly. for your shielding problem, simply stick it out to the end and don't react on instinctual time-- wait until the last hit where he enters his ending animation with all that delicious lag.

the only way you wouldn't be able to punish it is if he moves away after he sees the first part of the move not connect, which can be tricky to time because as soon as he moves away from your sheild, the move speeds up again because it's not in contact with anything. if you see him do this often, either get good at memorizing the timing for you to be safe out of shield while the move is still active, or prepare to clank/hit with a dash attack. those are your best options-- dair probably won't come out quick enough for you to confirm the hits, but I'm not sure, and forward smashes may not reach. they have the potential to work, though, so I'd toy around with the ones you feel most comfortable with punishing him with. grabs are always good if he prefers to shield after his spinning side-b.
