I know this sounds ridiculous, but I decided to rewire my N64 controller specifically to make taunt cancelling easier.
I simply took a razor blade and slit the trace from the up-C button to the button mapper chip. I then soldered a wire from the L -Button to the up-C button.
After playing with the Hori mini pad for a while, I liked the ease of taunt cancelling but could not get used to the small controller. The joystick was awesome but I didn't feel as in control as when using a regular N64 controller.
So, I went back to the good old classic controller and made this funny little modification. I chose up-C due because of character color. Up -C is the button linked to a characters original color, so all other colors are still available.
Anyway, if you'd like me to post a picture of the circuit board or a video , please let me know.
P.S. I did this because I like taunt cancelling (especially with Mario, and Falcon) , and I liked the idea of doing it while not removing my right hand over to the L button. Ridiculous? Maybe. More comfortable, safe, controlled, taunt cancelling experience?......YES! :bee:
P.S.S: Show, show , show me your moves!

It's a joke, clubba doesn't seriously have problems with taunt canceling (I don't think)

Its a joke. Taunt cancelling has no effect on gameplay so its okay. I just want keyboards banned from console. This sounds pretty cool though!

Nah, totally not ridiculous ;P One of the biggest reasons I wanted to stick to Hori was so that the taunt button is not in a ******** location. Yeah.

Not to add fuel to your ban-everything fire, but taunt-canceling does affect gameplay. Not hugely, but it does. For example, in the Puff vs Samus match-up, when Samus is recovering low, I like to stay a little back, then dash -> taunt-cancel -> DSmash when she tries to sweetspot her up-b. Like this, I can DSmash perfectly on the edge for maximum range off the stage, reaching her as-far-away-from-the-edge-as-possible up-b that a lot of people normally struggle to hit safely. I could obviously achieve this maximum range by just going to the edge in advance so I don't need the speed of a taunt-cancel, but this staying on the edge obviously puts me in danger of being hit away. Also doing this encourages people to try to sweetspot like I want them to because people see me just standing there away from the edge, and think I won't be able to hit them easily from that position, because nobody but me does this **** lol.

Another example is using it to stop the Dreamland wind from pushing you off the left side if you want to do an on-stage edgeguard on the edge. Basically you can use it for a quick way to dash to the edge, or to stop yourself from being pushed off (or quickly canceling Kirby's power wut).

Why not just rewire L to Up-C?
I did rewire L to Up-C. But it is necessary to cut the connection from Up-C to the chip, otherwise you would have two conflicting inputs.
Step 1: sever the copper trace from Up-C to chip with a razor blade. Step 2: Add a wire to the L-Button, and run it to the C-Button(NOTE: There is a small blank copper circle next to the Up-c button, this is where you want to solder on your wire from the L-Button.)
This way, the L-button and Up-C are now the taunt button.
