NOTE: As the title says, this is not a deliverance of news, but rather a thread for discussional purposes. Read on if interested.

If any of you have ever played the following games, The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys (on the PC and Playstation respectively), starring the never-forgettable Klaymen, then you probably feel the same about the series and how it needs to be revived. Fortunately, they are in fact developing a feature film, most likely in claymation like its preceding games, that will be released hopefully in this next year. Could this potentially spell a forthcoming of Klaymen to the video game world once again? I sure hope so, and if it commences, perhaps the series could continue on the Wii - with development being cheaper, more accessible, and more relative to the series (with similar, comically gloomy games like Mushroom Men debuting on the same system).

Now, if you are not familiar with Klaymen, he is an anthropomorphic being from The Neverhood, a wacky, Pee-Wee's Playhouse like-world of strange denizens and unparalleled architecture. And here he is, in all his bemused glory:

Below are some screens from Skullmonkeys:

Trying to explain the premise of the games would not do them justice, because honestly, they're true works of art, with everything being made with stop-motion claymation - everything. And, when accompanied with an incredibly nifty soundtrack, and a very unique twist of humor, these games are amongst some of the most unique and rewarding experiences ever. Truly, works of art.

I would love to see this series revived, as its potential is boundless, and on the Wii, the capabilities soar even higher.

To me, they just look like generic platformers, but in a clay suit. I never played them so I wouldn't know, but what's so special about it?

If you don't think this looks awesome, you truly have no idea what you are looking at.

I rented it from a Blockbuster when I was a kid. I'm still looking online and in stores for a copy of my own.

Just to knock out the statistics on Skullmonkeys, it was highly critically praised for just about everything, but its difficulty (which makes it even more fun, challenging, and rewarding). Commercially, it wasn't very successful due to its obscurity, but its fanbase is more than loyal; obsessively in love, even.

The minute you pick up this game, you won't put it down. It's one of those games that you just have to play to understand - even if you play only a minute of it, you will understand that which is Skullmonkeys.

I was the same for years and years until last month when my cousin lent it to me out of the blue. I don't think I'm ever going to give it back.

Hm...

Okay. I just looked around on Wikipedia for it, and it apparently it was pretty good. Is it confirmed or is this speculation.

Oh yeah, and I do think the artstyle is awesome. It just appeared to be a generic platformer at first. I guess not though.

It's one of those games that you "just have to experience". Some things cannot be put into words, or perhaps, should not be put into words.

On Wikipedia, it is confirmed that there is going to be a full-length claymated Neverhood film. Woah.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this. I posted a bit of information in the OP about the film, but nothing you haven't read. If there is going to be a revival for the series, this film will be the starting ground, and hopefully it can translate back into the video game world from whence it originated.
