A number of years ago, the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters was brought to the US. The rights were bought by 4kids Entertainment, who then proceeded to gut, butcher and completely rewrite the series so that it went from dark story with interesting characters to a Saturday morning cartoon. Roughly a year ago, I found a group on Youtube named Project YGO, who had proposed to do a fan dub on the entire series. At they time they were still in the casting stages, so I decided to keep an eye on them and follow their progress. So, a year later, the fruits of their hard work was finally realized as they released the first episode of their fandub.

Their dub is amazing, most of the dialog is well written and fun to listen to (like how at one point Jonouchi (Joey) says, "Yuugi, for the win!" during Dark Yuugi's Duel with Kaiba). All of the voice actors game an awesome performance, and note that none of them are getting payed. They did a great job in casting choice, Yuugi's voice doesn't make him sound like a wuss, Dark Yuugi (Yami)'s voice sounded remarkably similar to the original voice actor. And man, Jonouchi and Honda's voices were perfect for their characters. And I would also like to give props to LittleKuriboh for his awesome performance as Sugoroku Mutou (Grandpa).

Now for what I didn't like. There were a few times when the translators tried to do a direct translation from the original Japanese version, so you'll get some odd-sounding lines like, "You are... Kaiba!" Anzu (Tea) needs a new mic, there were a few instances in which you could tell that Yuugi's voice actor had a fairly poor mic, too.

The good outweighs the bad in this dub. Team YGO did an awesome job, and I can't wait to see the rest of their series.

Just saw it, absolutely amazing work from teamYGO. Just as good, if not even better than the Singapore-English dub. If some of the members got better mics, this could just about be passed as an official dub.

Also, LK as grandpa was a nice touch XD
