I was wonder what part of the FAIR hit box do you need to hit someone with to launch them behind you?

Is it the very last HB that covers his torso (1)
Or is it the HB that covers his head and arm (2)

Thanks,

Its been sometime since I thought about this exactly, but I believe this is how it occurs. Its the result of how the game handles launching rather than a property of the move itself. In all normal situations, the move no matter what hitbox you use will launch the person to the right from the image in you have provided.

However, you can set it up in a particular way. First you, have to be moving in the direction away from the way your Fair is pointed. In the image you provided imagine Marth moving to the left despite Fair coming out on the right side. Next, you need to have the opponent's center behind Marth's own center. As in you cannot be moving backwards, but hit the character on Marth's right side. They need to be hit by the hitbox on Marth's left side.

The hitbox marked 1 will launch the opponent behind Marth. The properties are the same as hitbox 2, except the directions are of course mirrored.
Despite what is stated above (sorry), this hitbox is not dependent on the direction you are moving in, as you can send the opponent behind with this hitbox regardless of what direction you are moving in (if you're even moving horizontally at all).
