Represented Franchises

In SSB 10 Franchises were represented (with Mario and Luigi, Pikachu and Jiggs doubling up).
In SSBM 13 Franchises were represented with the addition of FE, IC, and G&W. What I notice here is that 2 old skool franchises were added, and only 1 newer/current one.
For SSBB (as long as all the old franchises return, Capt. Falcon and G&W are left) there have been 3 (Wario, Pit, and Snake) more added for a total of 16. What I notice from those 3 is another old skool, a Mario branch-off, and a new 3rd party.

So where are all the new/current franchises? I mean, olviously Mario and Zelda and Metroid are all current, but won't there be more? Why has every character they've announced so far been either part of an existing smash franchise, a third party, or old skool (or Wario, lol)?

Now I don't mean to get flamed for trying to figure out what all this "means," because it doesn't mean anything. What I'm asking is, why haven't they announced any characters from current, previously non-smash, franchises (with the exception of Snake and, to a lesser extent, Wario)? Do they intend to?

Most likely Animal Crossing and Pikman will get represented. And there are plenty others, such as Chibi Robo, Nintendogs, and of course the Miis.

I'm talking about characters, not stages and ATs and the like. And while it seems as though an AC character is likely, it hasn't been announced yet. That's my point, why have no current franchises, previously non-smash, been announced? Pikmin or Animal Crossing or Sonic or something...

Animal crossing has a **** icon, that's what matters...so does F-Zero if you have noticed...

That's speculation it hasn't been said, it could just show represented franchises.

There are **** a lot of other stupid franchises that don't have icons...there IS going to be an AC character

Don't forget third parties (At least two more different franchises from third parties will appear, meaning Geno will be third, *probably* as a Mario rep), and don't forget Sukapon!!
