Replacing a classic controller wire with a gamecube controller wire?

A while ago before the adapter was announced to allow you to plug in the gamecube controller to the wii u there were a lot of videos out there showcasing adapters that would allow you to plug a gamcube controller into a wiimote so you could use it as a classic controller. Among these videos I found one where someone took the wire off of a classic controllers motherboard, then removed the wire from their gamecube controller and soldered on the classic controller wire in its place and it was relatively uncomplicated, however now I have lost this video and all I can find are videos of people showing off/talking about the new adapter. The reason I really want to know how to do this is so for the pretty new PDP fightpad controllers that have classic controller wires (so they can only be used wirelessly through the wii mote) I would like to put gamecube controller wires in them so I can plug them into my wii/gamecube or even wii U adapter because IMO wireless controllers suck, if anyone could find this video, or if any of you have the skill to put a gamecube controller wire in a classic controller or vise versa, and you could make a video of you doing it that would be awesome, because from what I remember in the video they connect to the motherboard in essentially the same way, I know it's a lot to ask but I feel like this is a skill the community needs knowledge of, maybe one of you will have better luck in tracking down the video than I've had. Thanks.

I'm actually looking for info about how to do this same thing. I think a. In-line cable adapter will end up being the best option though.

You need to be good with soldering to do this lol. The plastic that holds the pins that you have to solder actually melts, normal plastic. But hey, it's simple. Open both controllers and check where the chord connects to the motherboard. Unsolder it and solder it back on the other motherboard. The black pin, completely to the right, is what powers up the controller, it should be the same layout on both controllers.
