So I just recently thought about getting into Melee, and I already know which characters I am interested in maining (Falco, Sheik, and Marth and at some point all three if possible). But right now as a beginner entering, how is it best to start off? Should I focus on learning one character right now, and if so which one would be better for learning smash starting off, or is it fine to learn all three at once?

To maximize your improvement choose one out of the 3 after you decide which one you prefer the most and stick to them. Playing more than 1 character just detriments you overall because instead of learning how to adapt to your weaknesses, you'll pick another character.

PP said he mained Falco exclusively for 3 years before even considering secondarying Marth.

Its definitely best to start by maining one character. Any time that you would spend on a secondary is time that you could be spending to improve your main.

That being said, you should do what you have the most fun doing and what works for you. I have just picked up a second main myself to cover some of my mains bad match ups.

Honestly, pick whatever character you feel the best playing with. If your playstyle fits a certain character, I'd say go with that one. Picking a main is a VERY important decision because even though you can change it later on, changing mains effectively puts you months behind where you were with the character you just switched from (a lot of people get discouraged about their new character and either get disinterested in the game or switch back to their old character, so make sure you know you're making the right decision!)

I'm still making the decision on who I want to main, so don't rush to conclusions too early. Play around with your characters for up to a few months and then decide. You might even want to main a character other than the 3 you stated.

Don't dedicate yourself to a main until your certain which fits you better than any other character

For learning the game, Fox and Falco can push you to learn technique faster than any other character
