I am selling my Red Mario Kart edition, Nintendo DS and a few games. All the games, and the DS are in immaculate condition despite having them all for about a year. The screen has no scuffs or scratches. The games, with boxes and manuals, I have are New Super Mario Brothers, Tetris DS, Brain Age, and Mario Kart DS. Somewhere, I also have Pac-Pix which was a terrible game and I'd throw that in for free.

How much is a fair price to ask for this? I saw at Gamestop the DSes are selling, used, for $109. They don't have any of the other titles for sale, used. I just want to know what's a realistic expectation to sell all that for. If it's not a whole lot, (ie under $150), I think I will just sell it to Gamestop and get store credit with my Game Edge card.

Any ideas?

I think 150 would be fair. I don't think you'd find people willing to pay more than that, though.

You'd have to check Ebay. I did a quick scan myself, and version 1 of the DS + a few games is going anywhere from (approximately) $100-$150 thereabouts. You'd probably get the higher end of that range, if not more, if you sold it on ebay, considering the condition and the number of games you've got there.

And I'm sure you know this, but I want to reiterate--the price you see Gamestop selling the DS at isn't what you're getting. You're getting probably about $60 or less for the DS, and a measly amount for those games. As a rule, you should always sell stuff on ebay, and never do it at Gamestop unless you have no choice. Mostly because Gamestop gives you a below-aftermarket price for your used stuff.

I get a bit more than most do with that card. That add 10% which puts me like 15% what they sell for. Still a bit more, but I am thinking of selling them all on Ebay. Thanks guys.

Feel free to ask prices on stuff you have and wish to sell here.

I'd try selling it on Ebay. The Red DS is pretty uncommon, so you'd have collectors bidding as well as people who want a DS.

Some things stopping me with Ebay are:
A. I have only one stylus, should I spend the 4 dollars and get two or three more?
B. All my games and such are in great condition, but I am not sure if it's in great condition to others.
C. How much to start it at, and the reserve?
D. I have a verified PayPal account, I just don't know how to set it up to recieve funds.
E. I want to at least get everything priced at Gamestop first.

None of the games are on there, and I didn't see a red DS. I just need enough for either a PSP, a game, and a 4 gb stick ($240 in total, but I can chip that in); or enough for a game or two for PS3. I can budget well, and I am currently saving for an HDTV.

Confusion!

A. Shouldn't matter. Unless the buyers are all OCD gamers, missing the extra stylus isn't going to drive the cost down that much.

B. "Great Condition" means it has all the boxes, original inserts, cartridges are intact with no sticker peeling or scratches, the boxes have little to no dents, scratches, or messy sticker stuff on it.

C. Reserve usually isn't recommended, mostly because it'll scare buyers away--the logic behind it is that if they don't bid up to your reserve amount, they might have spent all that time bidding for nothing. One way to get around this is to state in your description the amount of the reserve that you're setting (and make sure it's a low-ish reserve). Additionally, the starting price should be sort of low, as it'll attract more bidders--even if you start incredibly low (i.e., a few dollars), the price will inevitably go up to meet the current market value of other DS's.

D. I was confused about PayPal too. I can't remember how I set it up, but you have to input your bank's routing number (that you get off your checks or your ATM card) somewhere on your Paypal account. I can't remember exactly.

I dunno how you're searching, but I found 5 Red DS that were sold, and the average came out to about $120 for the package (without other random games). NSMB's final price is about $20, Tetris DS's final price is about $18-20, and Brain Age's final price is about $10-12.

You could either sell everything separately or together; it's up to you. If you want to go through all the hassle (and I suggest that you should), you would probably get more than if you went for the bundle, although that would require more work on your part. Again; you're better off Ebaying this stuff. You get more money that way.

. . .have you used Ebay frequently before, Crimson?

My boxes are immaculate. All instructions intact as well. So that's good. I was gonna start it around $20 for it all. Would it really be better to sell it all at once as you suggested? Separate they netted $170. As I said I am aiming for between $150 and $200.

I have only purchased two things off Ebay, ever, and never sold anything.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that yes, you could probably get more if you sold everything separately; it's just that it would require lots of work (i.e. selling about 4-5 items at once). If you're willing to sell everything separately, I think you should do that, mostly because bundled items usually are cheaper overall (or they're supposed to be) and people who want the Red DS are most likely people who already have a DS, but just want the Red one as a collector's item (meaning that they probably have a bunch of games already).

So yeah, if I were you, I'd just sell everything separately (except the DS and Mario Kart, since they were packaged together originally, of course). If you want to satisfy the possible buyer who is getting a DS for the first time, you can write in your DS description something like "I'm also selling other games; look at those auctions; if you buy the DS as well as some of the games I'm selling, I'll just ship everything in one package and you'll save on shipping costs."

But again, it's up to you.

Alright, that's a bunch maelstrom. I am going run to Gamestop after work and get a pricing for everything. What is a fair price from them?

Depends on how you define "fair." I define it is "as much friggin' money as I can get," which you may or may not agree with, and by that definition, Gamestop will inevitably screw you over. I'm just guessing, but you'll probably get around $100 or less for everything you have. Whether or not you think that quick $100 of credit is really worth it compared to the possible $170 cash is, again, up to your personal preference.

I forgot to add: Ebay and Paypal charge some fees for using their services. If you know that already, I just want to make sure; if you didn't, you want to factor that into your sale. Ebay charges about .05% of your overall sale including minimal charges for adding a photo or putting your description in bold lettering (so it's more visible). Paypal charges a certain amount as well, though I can't remember exactly how much.

If you really want to bypass Paypal charges, you can always just ask only for money orders or checks/e-checks as a form of payment, but those are laboriously slow in comparison, and you'll probably lose some customers.

I'm not seeing any of the Red DS bundles going for more than $90. The closest that came to $120 was $117 and came with 10 games. On average they are going for about $60 or so.

You have to go to "Advanced Search" and check the box that says "Completed Items Only" or something like that. You'll get the final prices for which the item was sold at.

Well, I was pretty much insulted at Gamestop. I lost the stylus I found yesterday so I didn't have any and they wouldn't buy it back without one, so they charged $7 to my buy back and offered me $92 BEFORE the stylus. I was floored. I walked out and went to Wal-Mart who didn't have the type of stylus I need (for the non-Lite). I will go to another Eb Games in the area, pick up a pack of stylus, and put it all on EBay ASAP.

I wish I could buy stuff online, I'd gladly buy you DS and games for $150, but I my mom doesn't use her card online and she doesnt have paypal so I'm stuck. I think $150 is a good price for that stuff, I wish you luck in selling it.
