All right, so this happened in a FG match and now I'm extremely curious as to how the mechanics of Fox's reflector work here:

To put it simply, Mewtwo's Shadow-ball hits straight through Fox's reflector the first and third time I try to reflect it. The second time, it works correctly. The Shadow-ball is fully charged every time. (Before you ask, yes, I was deliberately holding down-special for the duration of the attacks. I was pretty sure I held the buttons correctly the first time, but I know I did the second and third times.)

After watching this a few times, I went into training mode, and Fox's reflector can consistently reflect the Shadow-ball twice, every time. Is there some mechanic to the reflector that determines whether or not it can reflect an object twice, or is it just some freak glitch?

The reflector doesn't wear off - you can hold it indefinitely. In previous games, it'll break after a while, but I tested the same scenario in training mode and the reflector should work against the Shadow-ball every time - even when the two are at opposite ends of the stage.

edit: I think that frame is the first frame of the attack hitting me - you can see the red lightning starting to appear and my percentage start to move. The frame before that, my reflector is still fully up.

Reflected projectiles get a damage boost each time they get reflected. Fox's reflector and most other reflecting attacks break as soon as the projectile deals more than 50% damage.

The question has been answered; as a result, this thread will be locked.

In the future, you can head to this thread for questions as well regarding Fox.
