Redoing Failed Gamecube Controller Spray Paint Job?

So after proper review of my Gamecube controller spray-paint job, I have decided o completely redo everything that I did. At this point in time, all the spray paint that has been applied to the controller has hardened and is no longer soft and malleable. Could someone put me through the correct procedures in order to properly redo my spray-paint job of my Gamecube controller completely? I want things in the end to look as if the job on the controller was never redone in the first place.
