Smash 3DS Red Marker...

Well guys Im a long reader of this page but now I create an account because I want to post something. I was playing the SSB4 Special demo and found something rare for me atleast never seen this before if you look around mario appear like a red marker I dont know how appear that to be honest if someone please can tell me how? ( Sorry for the epic bad quality of the picture )

This is what happens when you press one of the character portraits on the bottom touch-screen. You can make it go away by pressing the character portrait again.

Even though this is probably going to get locked, I honestly never knew hw to trigger that until now
