Recovery with shine?

I've noticed that using shine while reeling from a hit causes Wolf to "float" upward, and since you can instantly jump out of the shine I feel like it gives you a bit of extra vertical distance.

Not sure if already known or something, but can anyone confirm? Thoughts?
