You will need a few extra things, namely RCA splitters so that 1 of the ends goes to the TV and the other ends go to your capture device. I recommend using VirtualDub as your capture software
If you want to add commentary, 1 trick I do is I use a 3.5mm audio jack to RCA connector. The audio jack goes to the audio output of your PC and 1 of the RCA ends of that cable goes into 1 of the audio inputs of your capture device. On Windows control panel, under hardware and sounds, enable 'listen to this device' on you microphone. The mic will record any real life sounds and immediately play it back through your audio jack to RCA cable which gets captured by you Pinnacle Studio Box[collapse="how to use VirtualDub"]
download and install these codecs and software

(For VirtualDub, there's no installation wizard. Just extract everything and you're done)
Once everything's done, open VirtualDub (setting up)
1. Go to file > capture AVI
2. Got to video > compression
3. select Lagarith Lossless Codec
4. Go to audio > compression
5. select MPEG Layer-3 and chose which bit rate you want (Once you get to 192 kb/s bitrate, improvements in quality start to get negligible)
7. Go to file > set capture file. After that, go to capture > capture video. You are now recording
After recording, you'll need to compress and deinterlace your footage. Recording from Lagarith will take up 30 GB per hour
1. Reopen VirtualDub and file > open your recorded file
2. Go to video > compression and select XVID MPEG-4 Codec. Hit configure and set the bit rate to 5000
3. Got to video > filters and add a deinterlace filter. Select the Yadif or ELA algorithm and for field order, choose either 'double frame rate, top field first' or "keep top field, interpolate/discard bottom field'
4. Cut out the footage you don't want. Mark the beginning and end point of something you don't want in your video and hit delete
5. Go to file > save as avi. Name it and you're done![/collapse]If you want some more in depth tips, talk to me on Skype sometime
