Smash Champion
This weekend there was evidentally an uproar of warnings and bans in the midwest forums.
I think one problem is that although FDV is abiding by forum procedures and rules he doens't understand the relationships and culture of the midwest. We all spam, it builds characters and relationships. In fact, EVERY regional forum has spam threads, and some of them are stickies. Find Location X / character players (or even your "Ask the Mods" thread) aren't tournament based, and really don't do anything to promote the community save make more posts and more threads for people.
Futhermore, FDV must not know that banning 5150 (aka Cherokee Warrior, aka Magnum Opus, aka Barbecue University, aka Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr., aka Two-Face, aka Undefined, aka Hank McCoy, and some more I know I'm forgetting) does nothing but flame and spread the problem.
These forums are not just about talking about tournaments. They're about making relationships, although the common ground for most is the tournament scene. Tournaments are fun because of relationships with people, and this is the only format we have to talk amongst ourselves.
A warning is supposed to aid in stopping a person from posting in the same manner. In most cases warnings are supposed to make per post, however this would be done overtime and inbetween posts. Unfortunately what happened is that FDV issued multiple warnings at one instance, making it impossible for them to correct their behavior.
Just because KishPrime was not online at the time, should not give you the right to ban mutliple posters. Given you are a supermod you have more say and whatnot but don't you think its an abuse of the power when you randomly wonder into a forum and ban people? Perhaps asking KishPrime to make a post would be more productive, and appear not as hostile. This has an essence of the Mic_128 days.
I'm always in the Midwest Forums leaving my mark. So if Smashboards is in need of more Moderators, I have no problem filling out an applications or if you could direct in me in this process that would be sweet. I missed the application process several months ago because it was in a room I do not typically go.
