Receive gifts from Amiibo

Title. How the hell do you receive the gifts that the amiibo gets you. I see the little present box icon everytime I'm done playing with it when it asks me to scan it, but I have no idea how to actually receive it's gift.

All you have to do is go to the amiibo menu in Games & More, then scan it in.

That is incorrect. Just scan it in the amiibo menu to receive the gifts.

Yeh but to actually get the gifts you need to get them from another console

No you don't. You just have to save them, then scan them in again, then save again. It's a bit unwieldy, but it works. I could see my coin total going up as I did that, so it was working.
