Gimmicks
Telescopic Fist
Rayman's neutral attack and nair are functionally similar, he can charge his punch on the ground or in the air to send his fist further by holding attack.
Most of Rayman's attacks rely on his fists, if he attempts a move with neither nearby, he'll either get a weaker attack or whiff entirely.
Helicopter Hair
Rayman can freely halt his descent by holding jump, his fall speed is greatly reduced while hovering. Can be performed multiple times.
His double jump is assisted by his hair, sending him soaring into the air with similar height to Ness' second jump.

Standard Attacks
Neutral Attack
Rayman tosses his fist like a boomerang, he can move around while his fist returns. From Rayman.
Rayman can toss out a second fist whilst waiting for the first to return, but can't attack again while both fists are out.

Neutral Combo
Only activates if Rayman's jabs connect at close range.
Multiple quick jabs, finishes with a strong, medium ranged right swing. From Origins/Legends.

Forward Tilt
Runs and attacks, similar to Mega Man's tilt. Punches twice then kicks. From Legends.
If both of his fists are already in play, he'll do a standing roundhouse kick.

Up Tilt
An upwards jab combo, same right punch, left punch, strong finish. From Origins/Legends.
If both of his fists are already in play, he'll do a short ranged headbutt,

Down Tilt
A low, sweeping kick that can trip enemies. From Origins.
Dash Attack
Spins in a tornado fashion while thrusting his fists out for a multi-hit attack. From Origins/Legends.

If both of his fists are already in play, he'll do a somersault kick instead.

Smash Attacks
Forward Smash - Heavy Metal Fist
Rayman dons the Heavy Metal Fist and winds up to punch. From Rayman 3.
If both fists are already in play, Rayman will perform a whiff animation and no attack will come out.
Can be reflected.

Up Smash - Shock Rocket
Rayman fires the Shock Rocket into the air, its trajectory can be altered shortly afterwards. From Rayman 3.
If both fists are already in play, Rayman will perform a whiff animation and no attack will come out.
Can be reflected.

Down Smash - Vortex
Rayman fires a Vortex on both sides, the tornado moves along the ground. From Rayman 3.
If both fists are already in play, Rayman will perform a whiff animation and no attack will come out.
Can be reflected/absorbed.

Misc Attacks
Ledge Attack
Hops up from the ledge with a sweeping kick.
'Get Up' Attack
Spins around and kicks as he jumps to his feet.

Aerial Attacks
Neutral Air
Rayman tosses his fist like a boomerang, he can move around while his fist returns. From Rayman.

Rayman can toss out a second fist whilst waiting for the first to return, but can't attack again while both fists are out.
Forward Air
Swings both fists down, causes a spike if sweet-spotted. From Origins/Legends.
If both of his fists are already in play, he'll perform a forward kick.

Up Air
A sweeping kick into the air, hits below then above and sends opponents into the air. From Origins/Legends.
Down Air
Quickly throws himself downwards and slams into the ground. From Origins/Legends.
Back Air
Twists around and kicks behind himself. From Origins/Legends.

Grab & Throws
Grab - Lockjaw
Rayman throws out the Lockjaw to grapple opponents at range. Can tether onto ledges. From Rayman 3.
Pummel
Shocks the opponent with the Lockjaw.
Forward Throw
Kicks the opponent away.
Up Throw
Spins his hair and tosses the enemy onto it, stunning them in place for a moment before launching them upwards.
Down Throw
Slams the enemy to the ground and then slams his torso into them.
Back Throw
Spins around and tosses the enemy away, similar to Mario's back throw

Special Moves
Neutral Special - Energy Shot
A projectile that can be fired off rapidly, or charged for a more powerful attack. Ricochets off walls twice before exploding on the third impact.
From Rayman 2. Can be reflected/absorbed.

Side Special - Flying Ring
A Purple Lum appears and Rayman swings from it for horizontal distance, Rayman kicks opponents during the swing.

Up Special - Throttle Copter
Rayman dons the Throttle Copter to jet upwards for high vertical recovery. Moves upwards automatically, horizontal position can be controlled slightly. The propeller has a hitbox above similar to King K. Rool's propeller pack. Rayman is free to act after the move ends. From Rayman 3.

Down Special - Plum Drop
Rayman tosses a plum that bounces around the stage, you can ride on it until it disappears.

Final Smash -

Misc Aspects

Still with Rayman. He's one of Ubisoft's biggest characters and he's got that mascot appeal going for him. Ray fits like a glove and he takes no names.

I think Rayman has the best chance of any character not owned by a Japanese company.

I still support Rayman! Please Ubisoft, don't let whatever happened with the Wii U keep you guys from putting Rayman in.

I was waiting for this to show up.

Just like I'm waiting for Rayman to show up in Smash. Here's hoping.

I was actually in the middle of making a thread for Rayman myself. :p

Oh well, we have a thread for Rayman, that's all that matters.

Rayman is my third favorite video game franchise of all-time, so seeing fight with or against my first two favorites (Sonic and Mario) would be a dream come true.

Here's hoping for the best Rayman fans!

I actually downloaded the original Rayman on mobile today and tried it. Can't believe how much it evolved.

Anyways, joing my #1 3rd party want's glade of dreams.
(now imma go back to sleep and dream about a full blown modern 3D Rayman game and how beautiful it is)

I've never played Rayman before, but I wouldn't be THAT opposed to his inclusion. If Ubisoft wants a character in Smash, I can't think of a better choice than Rayman anyway.

Here's to hoping there's a good mix of classic and modern Rayman tracks for a Dream of Glades stage.

Rayman 2 and 3 are full of good songs to be used.

Honestly if there is another 3rd party to be added (that isn't a veteran *ahem*) it'd have to be Rayman. There's so much in his favor and nothing holding him back. Let's face it being a trophy in the game is a big ****ing deal in and of itself.

I've always wanted Rayman in Smash, the fake Artsy Omni leak broke my heart. I support, he's in my top 5 for sure.

Also, can we get a Raymolk costume please?

Are you going to be doing an illustrated Rayman moveset too!?

On another note, I'm really surprised AndreaAC hasn't showed up yet.

Yes please. Rayman deserves it. Ubisoft has always backed Nintendo with Rayman titles.

Yeah, but not a "complete" one I suppose. I think most of the things from Origins/Legends are fine already, so I'll just fill in the blanks with a handful of moves :) .
As a long as the plunger gun makes it, I'll be fine /s

Seriously though in Legends alone he has enough moves for a fully functioning Smash Bros kit.

That's cheating
I can do that though. I'm a close friend of hers. :p

She's been doing a lot of Rayman art though so I am a bit surprised she hasn't shown up yet.
xD Hahahaha! Oh geez, I actually checked this place one time, but just like the first time I found the oldest Rayman thread years ago, there was barely anything to discuss, or well, it felt abandoned altogether. So, sorry about that!

.3. And yup, NSG is right! ^u^ Thanks for the tagging!

Just like NSG said, I have been doing a lot of Rayman stuff that I think the quantity now rivals with all the Ridley stuff I have posted in the boards, or comes close to it, I can't remember. Unfortunately none of it relates to him being in Smash because...reasons. It is more related to personal projects/stories or just doodles for fun. I guess I can post something I did yesterday, to show some of my improvement with him over some years:

xD Of course, I don't feel that satisfied with it, but the change is pretty noticeable (and embarrassing :p).

Definitely still support Rayman!

I kind of wish that they'd make a sequel to Rayman Legends for the Switch instead of another version of Rayman Legends. I get why they'd prioritize remaking it (it's much easier and quicker, for starters), but seeing as I already have the Wii U version, I don't see a reason to double-dip. (kind of wish they'd bring that game that came out on mobile - Rayman Adventures, I think it was? - to consoles instead)

They stll might, I think they're just finally prioritizing Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Can someone remind me of when the Definite Edition of Legends come out again?
No release has been announced yet.

And remember, the official Rayman Facebook page said if Legends on Switch sells well, it could lead to a new game.

I plan to buy Rayman Legends for Switch just for that reason. Though hopefully the "Definitive Edition" will have some extra goodies.

I hate it when publishers effectively hold games hostage based on the success or failure of re-releases.

On one hand, I get it - they want to make sure there's enough interest. On the other hand, a lot of people who want to see more of the series almost certainly have the game that they're re-releasing.

The first example that comes to mind is Darkstalkers - there's certainly a lot of interest there, but because the re-releases of the games (re-releases that, unlike Devil May Cry 4, added nothing significant) didn't sell as well as they'd like, Capcom seems to be done with the series altogether.

It can be rather annoying, I agree.

Still, I just want to support this series in any way I can. Plus, I get to play a great game such as Rayman Legends on the go.

My guess is September as that's the anniversary month of Rayman and altogether seems to be a hot month for Rayman games to release in. Just a guess though.

I agree with this. As much as I love Rayman, I won't be buying the Switch version. What I don't get is why they're redoing Legends to test the waters of interest when that game, Origins, Jungle and Fiesta Run prove that people are willing to buy Rayman games--maybe not on one specific system, but still enough to get over 1 million sales. Plus, weren't the PS4 and XB1 versions already improvements over Wii U's? Yeah there was no touchscreen or 5-player co-op (with or without Murphy) but I recall them having better load times and stuff like that. If that's true, then the Switch would be the Even Better version of the Better Versions that came out years back. I know I'm ranting but I already have Legends so I'm not getting this.

Started playing Beyond Good and Evil recently.

You can definitely tell its something Michel Ancel made. The art style is very much like Rayman 2's, but still has a unique identity.

Rayman 3 of all games came to the Wii U Virtual Console today.

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/04/...o-download-on-wii-u-virtual-console-tomorrow/

You know with the Wii U still getting VC, it makes us wonder how long it would take for the Switch to get their titles. But at least we have the Definitive Version of Rayman Legends for our Switch needs.
:( Aw, that's the game I wanted Ubi had given for free in Ubi30 instead of Origins, I mean, not that I didn't enjoyed it (the environment art is SIMPLY GORGEOUS) but it didn't even give me the satisfaction of having "finished it", I wanted it to be over because of how stressed out it had me. R3 on the contrary, the moment I found it after 3 years of looking for it, had me enjoying it a lot and making me wish it had been more similar to R2 in some aspects. I guess I will have to look for the emulated version again.
