Don't you dare fire that Sal leak rubbish at me, I don't trust leaks no matter how credible. Rhythm Heaven characters can stay away from Smash Bros for good

Chibi Robo

Marshal

Chance: 30%

Seems like a random character to use, but you never know.

Want: 50%

I'm indifferent towards plenty of things, am I?

Chibi-Robo

Chance: 75%

It's getting a new game, so it will probably at least be an assist trophy.

Want: 50%

Because I don't want to be redundant, I'll let you guess.

Oh gawd, the Leak's gonna cause controversy. MAJOR controversy.
It wasn't bad in the Chorus Men's day, I don't see why that would change now.

Chibi-Robo: 15% Because he's unique.
Want: 100% Because he's unique (plus maybe they can do a better job than SSF2 is doing).

The extra nominations post has been updated.

Marshall's chances: 20% - Still have my doubts about the leak, but if it's true I think it's likely that he was mixed up with the Chorus Men, so he gets double their score. If either gets confirmed I'm pretty much saying the leak is true.
Want: 80% - I've been playing some more Rhythm Heaven recently and I've become much more interested in the idea of it getting a character. I think he may be the best pick, too.

Chibi-Robo's chances: 15% - Possible, but I feel like he might be seen as assist trophy material. I'd be kind of surprised to not see him either way, though.
Want: 60% - I'd be interested in him.

Rhythm Heaven isn't that small of a franchise, and I could see them getting a character. Slightly. More likely to be an assist trophy though.
Want: 10%
I have never played a Rhythm Heaven game. Could be an interesting character, but I have no desire to have him in the game.

Chibi Robo Chance: 10%
Honestly, basically the same thing as a Rhythm Heavens chances. Isn't that small of a franchise, could get in, but more likely to be an assist trophy.
Want: 90%
Unlike Marshall, I love the Chibi Robo games, and would love to see what they could do with him... but not as much as I want other characters in the game.

I could see it happening, but I think it's pretty low on the totem pole unless Sakurai got some really unique idea and decided Marshall fit it. I expect Rhythm Heaven to get a stage, which I think is much more suitable representation.
Want: 0%
I want a stage, I couldn't care less for a character.

Chibi Robo
Chance: 20%
Like Villager, Little Mac, and Wii Fit Trainer, Chibi is one of those series that has been around but never gotten a character. I know people want Shulk or Isaac, but I think Chibi is still popular enough and unique enough to stand a chance
Want: 100%
I love the little guy, and I always pictured him getting in here like Olimar getting into Brawl. I'd be ecstatic to see him.

Random character who probably has some chance of being playable (Its possible he was mixed up for Chorus Men who knows) but I don't buy the leak. I see it as assist trophy at best

Want: 10%

Don't really want.

Chibi-Robo

Chance: 15%

Hes been around for a decent while & is fairly loved by Japan. IMO, he has a better chance of being playable than Marshal/Chorus Men but just like them, he may be an assist trophy & I wouldn't mind that.

Want: 75%

I guess I wouldn't mind him.

Marshall...
Wow, this is difficult to rate.
Well, he is more recognizable than the Chorus Men...
But then how did Sal think Marshall was one of them if they're less recognizable?
Hmm... I don't think 2 is happening, and if the leak is real, I expect the Chorus Kids.
And if the leak is fake, I expect no Rhythm Heaven character at all.
And if there is one, there's still competition.
Seems like a lot against his chances now...
Chance: 5%
Sorry, but your less iconic friends got "leaked"

Want: 50%
If it's the Chorus Men, sure, whatever.
If it's Marshall, sure, whatever.
To me, they might as well be the same exact character, it wouldn't make a difference to me

Chibi Robo:
Hmm... every time I think about his chances he seems to be likelier and likelier
Thinking...thinking...thinking... hmmm....
Huh. I think he's the most likely newcomer that I've never had on my roster at some point.
I have a feeling they'd skip him easily.
But out of all of the Melee franchises to revive, they chose his. And he is very unique.
He certainly has the qualifications, but I think his chances are about 20% out of his favor
(What I mean is, he's about 20% away from a 50/50 shot, sorry, couldn't think of how to word it better)
So... maybe.
Chance: 29%
On a good day I'd probably give him 35. Maybe I'll change my score. I don't know.
Want: 65% Edit: No, uniqueness is my favorite part of a Smash character... I should rate him higher, I would be very happy with his inclusion, even though I have no connection to him
Want: 77%
I'm completely neutral on the character and the series, just like Marshall and Rhythm Heaven.
However, he does have a lot of potential. And makes sense... I guess.
He should be considered. Keep your eye on this little guy.

Predictions...
Kid Icarus Smash Taunts: 49%
I have considered it before, and it would be awesome.
Wario Land Wario: 17%
Any new moves that improve a fighting style or make a character more like their character are positive to me, but I don't know when to expect them. It's surprising that a character with so many sub-series had so many made up moves, but they did work. So I could see this going either way.

Wario Land Wario: Is this instead of WarioWare Wario and Mario Wario as the main Wario? Or as an alt?
Are we simply rating the chances of him playable in general? I doubt this could replace the 2 more well-known and recurring designs that have both made it in,
wait... is this the same thing as his design in the Mario games?
Huh... man, I really don't know how to predict or rate this.
I will save everyone the confusion with this:
The concept of Wario Land Wario is not a costume rating; Wario is guaranteed to have both his WarioWare and Overalls/Plumber outfit.
This is an overhaul concept much like Decloned Ganondorf.
Wario has so many moves that Sakurai could have drawn from the Wario Land games (including World), but they haven't received proper representation. Wario's side smash is the Shoulder Bash, but it doesn't act similarly to what it does in the games.
We will be rating the possibility of Wario using accurately represented moves from the Wario Land games, Wario Land: Shake It!, and Wario World.
Or, in other words, think of how they handled Wario in Project M! They gave him moves from his games!

Marshall:

Everything I said about Choir Boys applies to every other Rhythm Heaven character.

Choir Boys:

Chance: ??? (Maybe 50%?)

This is just out of left field. Rhythm Heaven is one of Nintendo's most popular recent games (I think?) so it definitely has a good chance of a rep. It can be very unique to play as too.

Want: ??? (80%?)

Call it Inception, but after hearing about the leak, I would be happy to have an RH rep. It has several mini games worth of attacks (but this cannot fully support a rep, as Game & Watch has this niche already.) I feel an rhythm based moveset would be cool, a hard to play high risk-very high reward character. I would imagine that to do any substantial damage, you use rhythm when doing attacks, but when mastered, damage and priority go through the roof and 0 to death combos can be rattled of like clock work (think DK's Final Smash, except applied to every move.)
Chance: 50%

Want: 80%

Chibi Robo:

Chance: 35%

Never played a game and it's hell week so I don't have time to look him up which really begs the question why I'm writing this in the first place.
I can better see him as an assist, but character works too.

Chance: 50% - If the leak is right we don't know whether to ascertain if the rep from RH is really the three Chorus Kids or this guy (the leaker being vague in some cases) but I'm inclined to believe is more the former.
Want: 80 % - I'd prefer the three kids but I'm completely fine with Marshal too.

Chibi Robo
Chance- 70% - I can see it happening. We know that size won't be an issue since Olimar got in just fine. Then again I can perfectly see him as an Assist Trophy better.
Want - 40% wouldn't mind having this guy but I'm not actively rooting for him either.

Hugely overestimated character. Sure, it's a fairly popular character from a fairly popular series, but after what happened to Dillon it's clear a recent eShop title really doesn't do much for the character. It's a good series, but easily an ancillary one for Nintendo that works best with an AT

Want - 50%
I like the series and the character, but I don't think he merits a spot. So I just went for the middle of the road.

Marshal
Chance - 14%
Around the same as other RH characters, a bit less than the Chorus Kids that have the leak supporting them by name, and also less than other characters I deem more iconic and preferable like Monkey (I may be the only one, but I think the Rhythm Monkey makes more sense.)
And yes, this is all with the assumption that as a series, Rhythm Heaven deserves a playable character
I am aware that whenever a RH character comes up, we inevitably get the people who treat it like it's just a secondary series that doesn't deserve a rep, and more frustratingly people who dismiss the characters and the series entirely because they know nothing of it and mostly haven't even bothered to play it or watch it. I can respect a low want score for this, but a low chance score from you personally not knowing the franchise is a bit annoying given other people here bother to research characters they don't know about to give a fair rating, or simply abstain.

This leads to the other irony of these ratings, particularly today. A lot of people dismiss Rhythm Heaven as not significant enough for a character, and yet they list Chibi Robo as having a higher rating than any Rhythm Heaven character. Chibi-Robo's impact compared to Rhythm Heaven's is a pittance, considering it got a third, downloadable installment about ten years after its first game. It was a forgotten franchise that barely got revived. Add to that the fact that commercially Chibi-Robo's sales are a pittance, while the Rhythm Heaven series is a series that sells millions of copies. And it got three successful installments from Brawl to this iteration of Smash. It's hard to think of any franchise more successful for Nintendo than this one since Brawl, unless of course we talk of the Miis and the Wii Fits (the latter which received a playable character.)

The bottom line, and I reiterate this because it might be the last time we actually deal with a Rhythm Heaven character ... This franchise, by impact and sales alone, merits a playable character over a bunch of other franchises and characters that people are pushing as likely while dismissing this one. Just because for some reason a bunch of people in the west decided to overlook the title (while Japan in the meantime loved the heck out of it.) Seriously, if you have not played this game for whatever reason, give it a try ... any of the three installments is phenomenal, involving fantastic visuals, characters, tunes ... enough content to merit stages, trophies, ATs and even a playable character in Smash. I concede the point that due to so many characters in the series and no real main one it's possible the series is overlooked, BUT most of the characters that have come up here have unique enough visuals and character that, were they chosen, they would near instantaneously become an icon of the series

Want - 100%
If any new series (post-brawl) deserves recognition in the pantheon of the Nintendo universe, it's this one and any character to come from it earns 100% want. It has the weird, unique and iconic visuals to set it appart as a franchise and it plays to Nintendo's ideals of quality gameplay and entertainment. The only new series I would put over this one is Xenoblade for reasons already discussed by Shulk supporters.

Predictions
KI Smash taunts - 43%
I definitely see these replacing the MGS codecs more and more each day.
Wario Land Wario - 14%
Some people are probably going to give high ratings, but frankly wario is only being used for tech demos and mini games. It's not even classic Wario Ware anymore.

Since I have not played KIU yet, is it possible that we could have all discussion about tomorrow's KIU taunts in spoiler tabs tomorrow? I really don't want any more of the game spoiled to me before I get to play it...

Yeah, I think the leak meant Marshall instead of Chorus Men. Sue me.
Want: 50%
I need to see a moveset on this one.

Chibi-robo:

Chance: 75%

WHAAAAAT? WHY IS HE SO HIGH??? Well, he fits all of the criteria for a fighter in Sakurai's book. He is clearly unique, he scored an S rank in the uniqueness tier! I always thought he was a better eshop rep than Dillon, considering he had console games beforehand. Plus, Skip LTD. does not yet have a character in Smash, and Chibi beats Captain Rainbow by a long shot. Also, Chibi robo was one of the few non-represented series to get 2 trophies in brawl. The most pertainent of these was Animal Crossing... who now has a character. If he was an assist, I think it would have happened in brawl. I think he also lines up with Isaac in several ways...
-both from unreped series
-both second party
-both have considerable popularity

Want: Abstain

I'm conflicted on this character. I absolutely loved the gamecube original, but had mixed feelings on Park Patrol and despised Photo-Finder. I honestly feel this series should be left to die unless they can create another adventure with the same great qualities as the gamecube original. Yet I still really like Chibi himself. So...

Hoenn remakes have been confirmed the day after we rated Sceptile.

I was just going to mention this.
So, we rated Sceptile a day before this was announced. Kinda reminds me of how we rated Ridley the same day Sakurai stated that characters sizes aren't true to their canon in Smash. What other coincidences happened in this thread?
Are we due for a Sceptile re-rate? :troll:

In a bit of sad news, Wonder Red was disconfirmed with an 8.05% chance and a decent want of 37.10% want. The Hoenn remakes are wonderful, but this... less so.

Marshall:
Chance: 50% Rhythm Heaven could definitely use a character, but I'm not sure who Sakurai would pick. Still, Marshall has a better shot than most.
Want: 55% I've never played one of his games, so I really don't care about him, but the idea of a rhythm based moveset intrigues me.

I'm interested in seeing what you guys think about having a Rhythm Heaven character in general. It looks like you guys rated that a while back, but that was before the leak. It's kind of embarrassing that the Chorus Men have a better ranking than the chances of a Rhythm Heaven character in general.

But I don't care about that right now, because it's time for:

Chibi-Robo:
Chance: 65%
I know some of you might think that my rating is too high, so I've prepared some arguments.

A Recent eShop game doesn't help: Why wouldn't it help? It reintroduces gamers to the series, which Mr. Iwata called a fan favorite.

Look what happened to Dillon: That's not a good comparison. Dillon has only had one game published, so it was always unlikely that he would be playable. Chibi-Robo has 4 games under his belt (3 in NA) so he is a Nintendo all-star.
*Edit* Apparently Dillon actually has had two games on the eShop. While that makes the comparison a little bit more accurate, Dillon was still too recent to be considered a Nintendo All-Star. Chibi's first game released back in 2005, so he has more longevity, compared to Dillon, whose first game released in 2012.

He screams Assist Trophy: What exactly would he do? A good Assist Trophy has some kind of gimmick, which doesn't usually translate to being a good playable character. Nintendog covers the screen, Andross fires Polygons, Goroh slashes at the player. What would Chibi do?

I guess he could sweep the stage with his toothbrush: While that is a funny image, making the stage clean could have a bad side effect. From what I can tell, a Chibi AT would make the stage slippery, and thus bring back random tripping for a short time. I don't think anyone really wants that.

There's other, more deserving characters: I've never actually played a Chibi-Robo game, and yet he is my most wanted newcomer. Why? Because he has incredible moveset potential with his plug. An AT couldn't really showcase the diversity that comes from having your character literally charge up his moves. Sakurai is looking at three things when he is putting characters: Recency, Popularity, and Moveset Potential. Chibi has a recent game on the eShop, Iwata saying that he is a fan favorite, and the gimmick of plugging in during battle. Frankly put, he is a shoe-in for Smash 4.

Then why did you rate him at 65%: Even though I wouldn't like to admit it, there is a chance that he will be an AT. I think it's 65% that he is playable, 30% that he is an AT, and 5% that he is just a trophy. I hope that clears things up.

Want: 100% There's already several fan-made movesets (SSF2), and I fell in love with their ideas. I can't wait to see what Sakurai does with him.

Predictions:
Nintendo messing up our ratings: 100%
Wario-Land Wario: 9.8% Project M isn't official, and I'm fine with his Brawl moveset.
KIU Smash Taunts: 15.8% I've got no clue on this one.

Nominations:
I'm tempted to nominate Rhythm Heaven Newcomer, but I want to debate the only series I own completely.
Dr. Lobe x5 (He's my avatar, of course I'm going to nominate him)

Today has surprised me a fair bit... I was expecting the Hoenn Remakes to be reveale at E3... the more they reveal beforehand the more and more excited I am that they've got some really big news saved up!

Secondly, wonderful 101 isn't an AT! I didn't know if it was going to be Wonder Red or miniature versions of the whole 100 strong team, but I would of put them as one of the top 5 new franchise ATs... Dillon's franchise was also up there, so I guess I'm half right, but still has me surprised, and kinda dissapointed...

Anyway, onto rating!

Marshal: 44%
I do not believe the leak, but I honestly think Rhythm Heaven is one of the top contenders for new franchise representation... While ATs, and a stage are bigger priorities given what the franchise is, a character is a coin flip to me. Marshal is the closest thing to a main character the series really has, next to Rhythm Girl, who's not even really in the games... as such he gains the Lion's share of the chance.

NOTE: I'm aware I previously rated Rhythm Paradise at 9% chance of a character, but the Direct changed a lot of things, and we've since removed two of the potentially up and coming stars while cementing that up and coming is a big thing (see Greninja). Rhythm Heaven is just that... in spades!

Want: 100%
Marshal is my most wanted playable option of a series I want more representation of... I'd be happy with a stage and ATs, but marshal would bring some great hype to the party.

Chibi-Robo: 4%
Too Small!
But seriously, his franchise isn't that big, and I don't think he has the same sort of selling power as the already deconfirmed Dillon... If he's playable I'll be confused... but in the same vein, if he's not an AT in this one I'll also be confused...

Want: 10%
I'm not against him, but he'd be a great AT, and that's where I want him!

Garlic Munching, Treasure Hunting, Plumber: 16.3%
The fact they've not shown Wario will make people think about him being changed like Yoshi... and Wario Ware is dwindling, with Mario Party/Golf/Kart being his more notable roles again (imo). I think it's reasonably high, but others will be more cautious...

Inter Religious Skype Calls: 11.8%
I think we'll get a smash taunt per cast member from someone, and if Snake doesn't come back (and I don't think he will), the Doc Louis and the Goddesses are fighting it out. The thing is though that there are two games, meaning probably twice the number of conversations, so I could also seeing them dropping the concept if Snake's not back.

Ryu Hayabusa*5

I would think that this is happened far too late for anything to change, since Sakurai said himself his team is just cleaning up and I think he said somewhere that the roster was more or less determined at last e3 (no source, so don't quote me).
Pokémon Company and Gamefreak give Sakurai the low-down of what's going to happen in Pokémon long before-hand, and they've probably had this planned since the roster was being built up...

Rhythm Heaven is a series that seems to be underestimated by some people. It seems to be pretty overshadowed by other characters and series to truly consider it a contender to some.
Still, I think that we need to revisit this concept. It should at least get 30%-50% rather than the embarrassing 14% that we gave it.

Look what happened to Dillon: That's not a good comparison. Dillon has only had one game published, so it was always unlikely that he would be playable. Chibi-Robo has 4 games under his belt (3 in NA) so he is a Nintendo all-star.
Actually, Dillon has two games under his belt; both of them were released on the eShop.

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure they've been planning this for awhile over at Gamefreak. They always have things planned in advance.

That's what I'm thinking.

Maybe, since he was just rated to the top of the list yesterday, we could just rate 3 characters tomorrow?

Seems like the easy way to get that out of the way.
It's a pretty different situation from other rates, how they won't get nominated again until over a month has gone by. But this interesting. Should we pretend we didn't even rate him and rate again?

I could see people being against this. But I just wanted to throw another idea out there.

Edit: Does anybody have a list of every Pokeball Pokemon in Brawl that hasn't been confirmed to return yet? I noticed Torchic wasn't in the direct.

I think we need to re-rate Sceptile again and prepare ourselves for the biggest chance increase that we've had yet.

Marshall: 1%
Can't see Rhythm Heaven getting a character, given the much larger WarioWare was passed up.

I SERIOUSLY hate his design. Ugh...

Chibi Robo: 15%
A possible dark horse candidate, who hasn't been forgotten, given his recent game on the eShop. Unique design, and made by Miyamoto himself, to boot.

Want: 60%
The character piques my interest. No attachment to him though.
