Hey Guys, long time follower, first time poster. I've been playing Smash since day 1 on the N64, religiously getting each new version, and have had extreme competitive blood in me when it comes to games, and this is no exception...
Long story short, I have created a new-style of tournament, which is less of a tournament and more of a leaderboard database. I have it working up to 128 players, so the first players to sign up to it are the first to be a part of it. I will only be accepting people who can commit to a decent amount of playing, because this type of leaderboard tournament will be ongoing for a good while; perhaps a month, I'm not sure yet. You don't have to participate every single day, but I would hope to see a few hours a week devoted to it if you're going to be a part. What it does is collect data on how good of a player you are, and it directly compares you to everyone in the tournament. It's not a win-loss comparison, but an over-all skill comparison. You don't just play to win the match, you play to do the best you can do!
It's a bit lengthy to explain it here, but I've determined that the easiest way to work this tournament would be at my twitch channel here:
xatmamune
(please don't take this as a plug for my channel just for the sake of it. I am not trying to just beg for publicity. I do hope you understand; thanks.
)
I am hoping to hit the 128 players goal for this, and I hope for everyone to play and have as much fun as possible. This whole goal is to see if this is a viable way to compare skill in Smash. I've taken this idea to cons and had incredible success with it with 64 other people over a 2-3 day period with SSB Brawl, so I can only imagine how well this will go over a 4-5 week period with 2x the amount of players and 100x the amount of smashing ONLINE with SSB4!!
Please let me know any constructive criticisms and feedbacks, and most of all, I hope you partake in this unique experience. Hope to see you all over at my twitch channel for some great Smash battles!
