Well I only saw the match on dreamland vs fox. One thing that stuck out was you kept downb on fox. Common thing Gannon's do when they're anxious is down b and side b vs a faster opponent in an attempt to close the gap and intercept an attack. You should focus on intercepting attacks from faster opponents with jabs and/or tilts. Remember just cause they're faster doesn't mean you have to keep up with them. Jab and tilts are good, don't be scared to wait and attack. Fox can choose when to close in so choose when to attack. You have range.

For the match on FoD, you depended on dair too much. Sure it's a great move, but once the opponent gets hit with it two or three times, you better believe they will be looking out for them and ready to punish. Also, something I noticed on DL specifically was that when you were waiting for him to approach, you would throw out a lot of laggy aerials, hoping that he would run into them. Sometimes they will, yes, but a missed dair, even L-canceled, is like a free upsmash and potential up airs following. What I like to do in that situation is instead dash dance and when they approach, I make sure I'm facing the other direction when I jump so I can throw out a nice, quick bair. Alternatively, if you're going to throw out aerials like you were on DL, stay away from dair. You can usually use fairs as bait, then jab them when they approach because you have enough time, but opponents who aren't as familiar with Ganon will think "laggy move, free hit". Other than that, I'm not sure why you're using side-b to recover. It's really short and he won't even grab the ledge like he does in Brawl. Was it just nervous flubs?

yeah i don't really jab or use tilts to space myself, i should start doing that more. thanks.

yeah i felt that i was relying on my dair a lot once i watched over the match again, and i usually fair on approach just because i feel more comfortable doing so. i think bair is safer and i should try doing that more. and the side b recovers were nervous flubs unfortunately. thanks for the tips.

I noticed there wasn't a dedicated thread for this, so I hope you don't mind if I hijack your thread and make it into a general "Rate My Ganon" thread. :)

I got some videos finally, so tell me what I'm doing wrong! (Apart from the missed l-cancels. I realise it and it's super embarrassin', so I'm working on it.)

yo, stop trying to d air when your opponent is above and to the right/left of you in the air. just hit him with an up uair/fair/ or trick him into air dodging and hit him with an uair/fair. your objective is to get them off the stage and against better opponents, you're gonna eat some nasty moves doing that shiz.

Yeah, I dair too much (which is why I could tell how much Coastward dairs haha). I'm definitely trying to break the habit. I have a friend or two who techs in place most of the time, so I usually combo dairs into like two or three more dairs. :p But I know that will work on very few people, so I'm doing my best.

Here's another video I uploaded last night that I think I did better in. I didn't cringe at how many dairs I threw out, so I think that's a good sign.

there were plenty of useless dairs that you put out that weren't neccessary, if you are trying to get easy hit on your opponent stick with your forward air because its more safer. you also tried to dair a lot when your opponent was recovering, althought you did bair or uair at sometimes which is better to do. if you practice your lcancelling more and your edge guarding then you should really improve.

Yeah, the missed l-cancels really hurt me. I attempt the l-cancel on every aerial (even all of G&W's) by habit but Ganon's timing is slightly different enough from my other characters that I miss it a lot. I imagine the best way to fix this is to just straight up play Ganon more. As for the useless dairs, I'm going to tell my friends that they tech in place a lot and to mix it up, and that should help both of us out!
If you guys have any other tips for practicing, please do tell. Otherwise, thanks for the tips! I really appreciate it.

Oh, and I'll also be uploading a lot more videos tonight. :)

yeah ganons dair is the hardest to lcancel. just go into training or something and just practice until it becomes a reflex. i'll probably get some stuff recorded as well.

When lcanceling you can press l more than once if you're unsure when you're gonna land. I think kage told me he uses that.

Btw upke I seen that last vid you uploaded and I noticed on fd fox would be dding halfway across the stage from you and you'll be shielding. That fox had already mind gamed you enough to the point where you're blocking for no reason in fear of a nair. Learn to wd oos. It will at least keep you moble enough to free yourself from a jump or roll when shielding under pressure. At higher percents tilts and jabs are very effective vs fox.

wd out of shield to jabs/tilts are pretty good ways to deal with hard shield pressure from fox. certainly not fool proof, but it gives the fox something to think about instead of just having his way with your shield and reading your roll/jump outs.

Thanks guys. I was going to start practicing getting uairs out of shield really fast and neat, but I had forgotten about WD to jabs and tilts. You guys are lifesavers, I swear.
