As the title says, my friend's Marth needs some constructive criticism. My main advice to him was to switch between characters so that he wouldn't be as predictable; what else do you guys think?

I've also provided different characters so that you can give some match-up tips to him as well.

I only bothered watching the first Jigglypuff vid because Jigglypuff is an easy match with Marth, but I have to say that Marth was pretty bad. He only got a kill when Jigglypuff missed his rest.

i saw match 3 of the dittos (the one with the funny part) and match 4 from ganon vs marth
you started very nervous, rolling too much, but in the end of the fight you where a lot better.
DI outside when you are being chaingrabbed so not to eat the tipper.
Sometimes you could use not only Double Fair, instead, you can change by doing Fair->Uair (like kizzu) but only in low percentages, so you mantain more time the combo adding more damage.
Nice Spikes.
Try to be more accurate on your timing, I could notice sometimes you failed to do a Smash attack because you probably pressed the button earlier or too late.

PS: Poor Controllers, specially when you where grabbed.

Actually, according to Phanna's match-up chart (http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=92025&highlight=marth+jigglypuff+matchup), Jigglypuff vs. Marth is only slightly favorable to Marth; 4 times out of 10 a Jigglypuff will win.

Thanks for the commentary; I'll show my friend this thread now that there's an intelligent response.

Montreal. PM me if you're on the island! I need op
DI outside when you are being chaingrabbed so not to eat the tipper.
I don't know, I'd advise you to DI towards Marth, not away. DI away, and he'll calculate a tipper. DI in, and you'll take the hilt, which has no KO potential.

I don't have time to watch more then 2 matches (match 3 in the dittos and match 1 vs Ganon), but from what I saw, the Marth is solid. As with most Marth players, I'd advise you to work on spacing, since there is absolutely nothing more important to Marth then spacing. Trading hits with Ganon is in general a bad thing, and you just barely outrange him, so you need super-human spacing against him. Tip every, and I mean every, attack; keep him to the absolute limit of your game. Remember that he has no projectile and is slow, so you can move away to recoop if you have too pretty easily. There's not much he can do in terms of chasing you.

Other then that, just follow what UMBC Super Smasher said: keep practicing. With experience, you can only get better.

EDIT: I noticed you using Kizzu's signature SHfair -> uair. Don't forget that that can set up perfectly for a tipper fair to spike when near the edge. To get him to the edge, use shdfairs. A nice combo.

If you DI away, you won't get hit at all. The defender would have already hit the ground before the attacker can Fsmash. You'll notice a shield come up since the defender doesn't want to get hit. It's almost instinct.

As for the matches, I watched the Marth dittos. Here's a few things I noticed.
1)A lot of unnecessary Dair in the fray. Dair does not lead to combos and is hard to tech chase. There are better options, preferable a fair or even nothing at all. Retreat if you have to.

2) A lot of rolling which could have led to a free grab (both of you), but not many opportunities were taken. There was 1 I remembered, that was on Yoshi's story after about 2 back rolls each.

3) On stages with platforms, you don't always need to perform a shdf. You could have pulled off a very sweet combo if you had just fallen off the platform and continued with a fair (Match 5 I think).

4) If you think your opponent is going for a ken combo, DI away.

The rest seems pretty much fine to me. Marth on Marth "Chaingrabs" are present (Inverted commas becase like Falco's Dthrow/Fthrow on Fox it can be DI'd/rolled out of) but above 11%, they aren't always guaranteed. Also @ metroid1117, the SH Fair-Uair works better as a combo on opponents who DI away from you, otherwise you have to go for a Nair or Utilt
