Yo, so I'm representing Random Select, the video game club at PSU, and I'd like to try and expand our community. It would be great if I attracted the attention of other students who are interested in joining a game club (more numbers makes us look better and get a higher budget). However, I'm also interested in working with the competitive Smash scene. We can reserve rooms in PSU to hold events and such, which primarily we have done for other fighting games, but being a Smash player myself, I would love to give it more representation at the school.

As a rec club at PSU we can reserve rooms, check out televisions and such, etc. In the fall we are hosting an open tournament for more standard fare fighting games. Information can be found at http://www.bisonslide.com/. We won't be changing the game lineup for that event at this point, but if there's interest I would love to work with people to hold another event for Smash.

At the moment we have weekly meetings where people can come to play games, and we occasionally hold special events. I'm going to be working to expand the club, so if you have any interest or ideas please let me know.

Yes, the club is open to non members. I guess I should mention that for joining the club and participating at weekly events you're supposed to pay the membership fee and join, which is ten bucks. As for which games, whatever there's interest in. I haven't personally played Melee in a long time, but if people want to play it that's fine.

Major tournaments are open to the public.

Edit: Hmm, maybe I need to reiterate. Random Select is PSU's official video game club. My primary goal is to start holding events that will attract more Smash players in the community. It's great if people are PSU students and want to join the club, but I'm also looking for people who have an interest in holding tournaments and such. We can provide equipment (TVs, chairs, tables, power) and space (there is a very large ballroom available...), but since I don't really know a lot of the local players and haven't held a tournament for any Smash games before, it would be cool if I could get people more active in the community to work with me.
