Hi, just wondering if anyone else experiences random disconnecting during local play on 3DS.

It happens at any time and is seriously infrequent but when it does disconnect, it will continue to do so for a few games straight. I should add that the person who D/Cs the first time is the same person each time. It's so unbelievably frustrating when you're trying to put your head down and play: Smash gets heated in the school library lmao.

P.S. You may have seen this same thread in the "online play" board but I have requested that it be deleted as it was in the wrong place.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I know some friends at college who have the same thing happen when they play MH4U with four players. Reportedly, one of them has a >New< 3DS, and the problem doesn't happen when he's not there. Are either your or (one of) your opponent(s) playing on a >New< 3DS?

Yes but he's not the one who disconnects, the person who disconnects most often has a 3DS XL, I have the transparent blue 2DS, and the new 3DS guy doesn't really have an effect on the disconnecting.

It is the 3ds xl that causes it. I own the original 3ds and my friend has the smash bros. blue xl and when we fight, we get disconnected at random. I played with a friend who owns a 2ds and a new 3ds and nothng happens.

It could be a manufacturing defect or inflected damage that is causing the 3DS XL to disconnect/get interference. I had an old 3DS that had this issue when playing Smash 4 and MH4U, and going to the newer one helped reduce this. Most of the 3DS players I've played with that have this issue have either dropped/something happen to slightly damage the 3DS or bought a lemon from the store.

I haven't dropped the new one (and I have a protected foam carrying case now that should help), but I do notice that electronics that generate a decent EM field can block this as well. Our break room has a faulty Microwave that cuts WiFi communications in it when someone heats their lunch, while another area people play is above a restaurant with it's own industrial electronics available. 3DS consoles do have an issue with outside interference (with the new 3DS being the least susceptible, but it's still there), so this can also be the case.
