Random freezes during battles

Out of nowhere I get freezes now. They're not consistent either. It freezes on the first match or even the 12th or something. It happens with any character on any stage. The only custom content I have is Melee SFX, Melee voices for Link, Marth, and Captain Falcon, custom stages and music, and changed SSS icons. This doesn't seem to be a problem though. I've formatted my SD card plenty of times but it will still happen anyways. So what do I do now?

thats a lot of custom content, yet you dont consider that the problem? try a vanilla pm build.

Bump. I downloaded a fresh PM 3.02 homebrew full build and with no custom content I still got a random freeze while battling. It was definitely random because it was Wolf and Fox, two chars that worked perfectly fine and FD, a stage I used earlier that worked. Plus if that was the problem(or the HUD) it would have froze instantly. PM used to work perfectly fine for me with custom content so I have no idea what's going on now. Somebody please help!

defrag the sd card.

if that doesnt fix it, try formatting the sd card, then putting another fresh build, no custom content, on there.

What's the difference between defragging and formatting? I already formatted the card plenty of times, but I guess I'll try again.

defragging makes the files smoother and run faster, and takes away some possible file problems

do a full format, not a quick one.
