Smash 3DS Random Characters/Stages

When I choose a random character with abilities turned on, are the character, outfit, equipment, specials, etc. all random? Does this include combinations that I haven't made? If so, having random specials and buffs/debuffs when enabled would be awesome.

As for stages, when is the alternate background music an option? Do I always have to hold R when selecting random for it to play? What about single-player modes like Classic where I don't select a stage?

When you select a random character you can get a random skin for that character. You do not, however get random equipment. I just realised I am not completely sure about the custom moves but I'm fairly certain that you will only get the standard moves. It might be possible you are able to get one of your already customised moveset though so don't quote me on that.

As for the music. The default (no button) chooses one of the two songs at random (higher probability of the standard song?). Holding the R button forces the alternate version. I have not tested this in classic.

When I choose random for a specific character, I get everything random for that character (outfit, stats, and specials). I wasn't sure about the random character option; I haven't unlocked enough alternate specials yet to really know (or at least it would take longer to find out).

Have you gotten the alternate song on a stage by not holding R?

Yes, but then you're specifically picking a random customisation for that character. This does not apply when selecting a random character.

EDIT: I must apologize. I have been lying to you. You do get completely random movesets and equipment even when picking random on the actual character select screen. Please ignore everything I have said earlier.

I am almost certain I have. This is also the way that music has worked since Melee so I doubt that they would have changed that.
