Quick question about stage banning

When you ban a stage in a Bo3 set, is that stage banned for the rest of the set?

Example:
- Player A wins Game 1 & bans FD.
- Player A loses Game 2.
- Player A picks the stage for Game 3.

In the last step listed above, is Player A allowed to pick FD, or can they not pick it because they banned when they won Game 1?

Most tournaments would say that Player A in this scenario cannot pick FD. I have however been to a tournament where bans only affected the opposing player and in those tournaments Player A would be allowed to pick FD. It just depends on the TO and what ruleset they run.

Thank you for clearing that up for me! I'm in the planning phase for a Melee local tourney & I want to be 100% clear on the rules before I publish a rule set.

What he said is wrong, that's a rule people have been thinking about, you can indeed go on FD.

If player B doesn't ban FD after game 2, pick it all day. There are never 2 bans in place at once. If I've ever been at a tournament that wasn't like that I'm unaware.
