Quick question about battles

Alright, I know that in tournaments, people usually play on a basic, simple, maybe even flat stage. I also know they dont use items because they want to use skill.

I know that in Brawl a lot of tournaments will probably be like this, but I have one question.

Do you guys, or anyone for that matter, play normal battles with items and on any stage? Like...not tournaments. Because I like using items and playing on different stages and just having fun in the game, and I'm afraid that when I play regular online battles, everyone will want to play a flat stage with no items.

Is this the case? Or do those rules only apply in tournaments? Let me know, thanks. :)

Yes they do. I remember seeing a video with four pro players (forgot which ones, but Ken was one of them) in a free-for all match with all items on. It was pretty funny >_>

Smash is fun anyway you like playing it. =\

Anyway, people will play on other stages. It'd be absurd to limit it to certain things online, when not everyone likes it that way.

Ok, so you're only saying the "No item, flat level" rule is for tournaments only?

it depends entirely on what the players want.

Me personally, I don't find item matches fun, so even outside of a tournament I won't play with them.

But of course some people could get bored and want to "spice things up" a bit.

It's not for tournaments only. It's for players to test their skill without interference. You can play whatever way you want, just don't call anyone's way of playing not fun. If it wasn't fun, why would you play it?

I never said it wasn't fun. I just like playing any stages and with items more than I do flat stages with no items. They are still both fun though.

But do most people ever play with items and any level?

Don't worry, tons of people will still play with items and other stages. It's just that on this website, the people you're around are generally more hardcore when it comes to Smash. Most of the people who play with items don't come here that's why you hear all the item-hating.

As to answer the Flat Online question, I'd think we can't draw a strong conclusion until we know more about the wi-fi and it's selection of players, and how you choose settings for matches online =/.
