Question regarding the Waddle Toss.

So when you're tossing the waddle dee's out and an item appears, what causes this? Is it like Peach's Turnip pull or does it have to do with a certain set of items being on? Though I have my items set to "none" they still show up. Do you have to turn every single item off individually or is there no avoiding it?

There's a sticky thread about this, wathever, you must set all items off, not just set to none, if you just set items to none they won't fall from the sky but DDD will still be able of tossing them.
