Hey guys! strictly speaking this isn't a Smash question, but it's relevent to how I'm getting the game.

I bought a 3ds about a month ago but still haven't bought any games for it; I've just been borrowing my girlfiend's copies of Ace Attorney and Pokemon.

Anyway, the day Smash is released, will it also be released on E-Shop? If I lose my digital copy of an E-Shop game, would I be allowed to re-download it? Thatnks for the help you fine people.

I'm 99.99% sure it will be released on the eshop the same day. As for redownloading, I think that it's now tied to your NNID, but please don't quote me on that.

Thanks for the help. I wanted to get the game on day one, but I also wanted to avoid pre-ordering and blowing an extra $5.

Yes. I have re-downloaded digital games I bought on eShop more than once.

If by any chances you lose your 3DS, you can also contact Nintendo to get your digital stuff back.

If you out 5 down on a pre order, you only have to pay 35 on pick up. (Assuming it's exactly $40)
10 pre order = 30 pick up
15 = 25 etc etc

I'm pretty sure the game will be released on the eShop the same day as retail.

I am not positive as I do not own any eShop titles, but do they not come out the midnight of release?
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y came out the midnight of the release date. I know because I waited anxiously until it popped out on the eShop.

If only I knew the game would be so underwhelming...

Yeah, they come out at midnight. Pokémon X / Y, Tomodachi Life, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario Golf: World Tour, NSMB2, and Yoshi's New Island were released on eShop at midnight, just to name a few.

You also don't have to worry about there being not enough physical copies if you download. Yes I am still mad at the fact it took me forever to find a copy of Awakening and I didn't even get it the first day.

Nintendo has renovated its online purchase setup. On the DSi/Wii, if you lost the hardware, you were **** out of luck. Now they link to your Nintendo Network ID, so if you ever need to re-download it, it will be attached to that. Your 3DS breaks? Not a problem. Just move your NNID to another and re-download. Easy.

That said, I don't typically trust online downloads and prefer owning the physical copy. But that's just me.

If you wanted it on release day, why not just preorder it?
