Howdy,

I just picked up Brawl with the intention of firing up PM. Just a couple of quick questions.

1. I have never played Brawl, just a fair amount of Melee back in the day. Should I play through some Brawl singleplayer first before modding it for PM?

2. Is PM capable of online play like Brawl is?

3. Is there any reason why I need an SD card that is 2GB or smaller, and cannot simply use a 16GB SD card?

4. For someone looking to get back into Smash Bros. would this be a good place to start?

Thank you!

1.) Nah, you can definitely just start up PM, go into training/versus mode and get a feel for the characters there.

2.) It is indeed, but I "think" you might have to have some very specific set up, something along the lines of the same thing, not like textures though, as the opponent. You also needs Wii friend codes to play with the people with normal rules (stock, time limit, no items, etc).

3.) I believe you can use an sd card bigger than 2gigs only if you are using a certain mod that I cannot remember for the life of me. It initially had to be 2gigs or less due to something with Brawl only being able to recognize/use sd cards of that size, or something alone those lines.

4.) Definitely. This is new, going strong, and getting better and better. Definitely play this over any other current Smash.

For #3, that is Riivolution.

1. P:M feels far more like Melee and Brawl, but that's really up to you. Some characters only changed slightly, but I suggest going straight to PM. You don't need to mod your wii, btw. The hackless method (which uses the 2gb sd) requires you to delete all the stagebuilder stages, reset and put the SD card in and go to stagebuilder and it'll load P;M
2. Yes, but beware of desyncing. The main deal is the buffer and the RSBE01 codes. There are two RSBE01 codes, one that is wififriendly, but according to my knowledge is bulkier feeling and lacks a few features like stage striking.
4. Yes, for reasons listed above and more.~

1. If you want to play through the Subspace Emissary, go ahead. You can't do it in PM yet, but it's not required either.

2. Yes. Just download the "Wi-fi Safe" version and then you will be able to play online with friends. "With Anyone" does not work, however.

3. The Wii and SSBB were made before SDHC cards and cards over 2GB were common. While the Wii got a system update to learn how to use the newer technology in the Wii Menu and a few newer games, Brawl has not.

4. For competitive smash, P:M isn't a bad choice. People are still learning the characters, changes are still being made, etc. People would argue that Brawl is better simply because it is slower, but you are not going wrong with P:M.

4) Yes, especially if this is the game you want to play. Starting with Brawl is a terrible idea if you want to end up playing PM, just the same way starting with Melee is bad if you want to end up in Brawl. Play the game you want to play
