Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me how pools are done?
I know pools are divided into an equal number (or as close to) in each pool
then they play matches just as if it was a bracket match
I know you get points depending on how much you win but I don't exactly understand the technicalities of it.
For example what if two people tie in points? What happens then
basically can someone just give me an overview of how pools work and how they are run

First, you have to decide how many people are getting out of each pool. (usually 2-3) Then you let the pools play and usually rank the top players in each pool by:

1. Set wins
2/3. Head to head
2/3. Game wins

Head to head means if you are deciding between two-three players to put through, the criteria is who beat the other(s). Various TOs have different priority in their criteria, but I hope this helped somewhat.

So a pool result might look like:

1. Most set wins
2. Second most set wins AND victory over 3.
3. Second most set wins but lost to 2

Does that make sense? If you're still confused let me know. =D

Ahh I see
well at a tournament in school I'm trying to get a 16 man bracket going on so it will be fair.
But what happens in the case that one pool is bigger than the other?
And I think I understand

so if Two and Three both got five set wins
Two would still win because he beat Three correct?

There have been cases where pools can vary in size (usually only +/- 1 from each other though) and then the same number of people get out.

And yes, because two won the head to head, they would make it out. You usually won't even need to count games/win% of games unless it's REALLY close.
