question about wii system updates..

so i just tried doing a system update for my wii, and it actually gave me a msg saying something like "unauthorized modifications have been detected on your wii, the system update may detect and remove these updates". Now the only things i have on there are homebrew and my sd card with P:M on it. I also cant seem to use my internet unless i do this update..

So, will a system update cause homebrew issues for me?

if you just have homebrew channel then you'd just have to reinstall that afterwards... also there is a way to update through homebrew channel, so you could look up that...
