Question About Samus's Down Tilt

So I wanted to ask a small question about Samus's down tilt, the one where she crouches and blasts the ground.

I usually play with my friends and some of them swear that it gives invincibility frames or that it's impossible to hit me while using it but I believe this isn't true.
After checking out the attack, I don't see any reason why it would give me incinvcivility frames (it shouldn't at all) so then it must be about hitboxes right?

So my question is, is it hard to hit Samus while doing the attack because of the hitboxes or the speed of the actual attack?

they might be trying to hit where the explosion happens, but you'll notice it's disjointed from her hurtbox. it comes out fast but it actually has quite a few recovery frames so they should be able to hit you consistently if they aim their attacks well
