Question about replacing characters via hacks

From what I know at this time, the only way to utilize the hacks like Roy is to have him
replace Marth, Mewtwo to replace Lucario, Young Link on Link, etc.

But couldn't I put...Say...Roy over Olimar, Sonic, Diddy or Mr. Game&Watch
instead so I won't lose Marth?

(The owner of the Wii I have access to wants to remove those characters and bring
back some of his old favorites)

Or will it have to be a choice between My favorite lord(Roy) and my 4th favorite lord(Marth)?

The moveset and texture have to replace the respective character it is built for.

Well, he must not be a very nice person.


But, yeah, you have to replace the characters who's movesets are going to the texture hacked characters.

In theory, couldn't you modelswap them? Copy Marth's model into Olimar's PAC?

I was under the assumption that if you were to copy, say, Marth's files and throw
them into the Olimar folder, that hacking either of the Marths would cause them both
to be altered in the exact same way(I get the feeling that they'd be inextricably linked to each other)

Which makes me sad...

Marth was his main in Melee and in Brawl...So currently I guess there's no chance
for me to play as Roy in Brawl...

Though I still wouldn't wanna axe Marth though(Or anyone else for that
matter). I do like him...But I like Roy much much more.

Also if anything I've said makes little or no sense, I'm sorry...My knowledge
of hacking goes very little beyond Pokemon and gameshark use

It's very possible, and they wouldn't be linked at all. I've seen Shadows fight Sonics, it's possible, and not very hard at all if you know how to use BrawlBox in basic ways.

They were probably using different textures, and one was in an unedited animation while the other was edited. Unless you saw a video on it and not pictures, that was likely the case.
