As late as possible. Hitting someone with a shffl'd aerial before your reach the apex of your jump means that you're going to get stuffed by an OoS option like grab, nair etc, unless it's extremely well spaced. Also, the ideal way to prevent shieldgrabbing and keep them in a bad position more often would be a 50/50 mixup of double shine or shine grab, but shine grab is simpler technically and still nets you stage position and frame advantage even if they buffer roll out of it, which you could resume pressure from with a laser.
