Punishing Jabs

So since I'm a noob, what is the best way to punish somebody who locks you in their rapid jab?

use directional influence to get out of it, basically hold your stick away from them and you will get out of it faster

These are brawl videos, but everything in it applies to PM. You should watch all of them but the SDI (smash directional influence) and the DSSDI (dual stick smash directional influence) videos are what will help with your particular problem.

Edit: Except for the video that says you can cancel your hitstun with a dodge or an attack, that's just Brawl. You can halt or slow down your momentum after entering tumble though, so that bit in that video is accurate.
