PSA Question: Linking moves with button pressing. How?

Ok so I want to make a dash attack when you press A and perform the dash attack, the character will jump forward into the air and continue an animation till you press A again for an attack or until he just hits the ground. Anyone know how to accomplish this? Please help and thank you .

Make a if block and make it something like IF button pressed next animation else loop infinite

Thanks! But I need to know how to make him go up and go forward at the same time. I tried the event that moves your character but all it does is make him hop up and only up without the animation. Actually does anyone have a guide or an in depth description on RA, IC, LA and Ifs and what they do? I want to fully understand what they are.
