well it turns out that a proxy mine set at the very end of the stage(when your in the OMG, im gonna fall postion) can blow up on some chars. but this only happens when they do a get up attack, while there on the ledge.

STAGES
final destination
battle field
smashvile
pirate ship
yoshi island

CHARS

meta: yes
DDD: yes
snake: yes
ROB: NO
WARIO: NO
G&W: NO
DK: YES

altho i did find something weird when i tested DK on smashvile, when he did his get up attack he hit the mine and flew backwards.

i'm sorry if this has alredy been said before.

The DK part in smashville is sure interesting. But when people see mines, they often jump, so i prefer to mortar/nair/nikita them.
Does that work with C4 too? Then, if they are stalling a bit at the edge, you could run, short hop, plant c4, jump and detonate hopefully predicting a get up attack

I'm assuming this activates when people do ledge drop > 2nd jump + aerial attack and are buffered onto the ledge. People will most likely do this instead of a get-up attack for at least a couple of characters. Otherwise, placing your mine on the extreme edge is a pretty poor idea when compared to placing it close to the edge since it gives you more stage control.

It'd have some cool situational uses, but I prefer distanced proxy mine + Usmash + Nair for edgeguarding.

Agreed. Find out the perfect distance for the proxy mine. I place it in the area the opponent would occupy if they rolled onto the stage, mortar slide from there to the edge, and go from there. If they are coming to the ledge, then I run off/drop and jump into a Nair. If they are already hanging on the ledge, then jump and Bair into them. This way, if they continue to hold on, they'll be kicked into and bounce off the stage. If they try jumping, they'll still more than likely get hit and you can repeat the process.

Basically what Kingdrom said, but with more detail and with my personal perspective on it. This is just what I do.
