I've created a post here pointing out the hypocrisy in banning walled/walk-off stages to prevent chaingrabbing to death but not protecting characters like Luigi who are vulnerable to standing infinites:

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=173861

IMHO, if they're going to protect Snake from Dedede hammering him against a wall or off a walk-off stage, they should protect all 7 of the infinite-vulnerable characters from the same thing.

I'm sick of being told "Just avoid being grabbed!! LOLOL!" and I'm sure Luigi mains are as well.

Hopefully, no one will need to do anything, but a post of support in the aforementioned thread will be ideal if tournament organizers refuse to change the ruleset and continue catering to people who main a character who D3/Marth can chain but not infinite.

I've been arguing this over at the official stage legality thread for a while now. A decision to ban certain stages to eliminate certain tactics against certain characters is just an arbitrary restructuring of the tiers- and without any methodology being able to provide a completely unbiased and impartial way to do so. It's crap.

It doesn't even end with D3's chaingrab. While D3's chaingrab is causing walk-off and wall stages to be banned so that certain susceptible characters will no longer have to deal with that problem- it begins to lessen the effect of being too light to be chaingrabbed by D3 except when against a wall of other characters in addition to worsening the effect of being chaingrabbed to death for the 7 infinite vulnerable characters. But there are other characters besides D3 who have wall infinites that they would have otherwise been able to put to use for a leg up against the characters who don't. Or there are other chaingrabbers, such as Ice Climbers, who do or will have an extensive chaingrabbing moveset that lets them chaingrab to death even more characters without the need for walls or walkoffs. Again, the stage banning is ultimately an arbitrary and biased restructuring in the tiers. There are reasons for banning a stage, such as randomness or loops like the one on hyrule temple, but claiming that stages need to be banned because they provide certain characters "too much of an advantage" is just ignorant of the fact that they can not be impartial in evaluating just what is too much of an advantage and should NOT be using stages in an attempt to manipulate the tiers in assumption that they can know what would be balanced.

However, I find this argument hopeless. Players with personal experience of losing to a chain grab but do not play one of the 7 infinite-vulnerable characters blindly launch into rationalizing reasons to ban walk-off and wall stages in the face of suggestion that they should not be banned. Sadly.
