I've noticed that an awful lot of characters are taking lessons from the top dog.

Fox, Mario, Yoshi, Pac-Man, and Mii Brawler all seem to have the same Up Smash, and unless it's been changed, Kirby, as usual.

What's your opinion on this?

As for me, on some characters, it makes sense; Pac-Man had the move in Street Fighter x Tekken, after all. But other characters I'm just not sure about, and overall it seems to be a bid for practicality over aesthetics.

Mii Fighters should be an exception I think.

But I am 100% pissed that the Brawler has Bowser's FSmash.

Very oddly-specific thread, but I'll shoot.

It's not like being able to back-flip isn't considered "cool" already. Being able to do a backward flip-kick in martial arts is something coveted by spectators, and it demonstrates physical splendour, but it's just that; cool. It's not a Flash Kick. It's a flip kick. Characters have exhausted just about every way of doing a strong, upward attack available to them. Uppercuts, headbutts, blasting their cannon/psyschic energies/magic above them, even some psychic-assisted flip kicks.

There are still new ways of doing an attack that makes sense for an upward strong attack, but it's only inevitable that many characters will end up using similar moves.

Unless I'm looking at this wrong...

Even if I am wrong about him specifically, though, that's still a lot of characters who share one attack.
Yea thats his up air. And Pac-mans up air is kinda similar. Pac-man's up air is based off of a game he was in. I think it was his first 3d platformed or something idk. Sharing moves is no biggie imo. Captain Falcon does it too with his up air. And Zero Suit Samus. Falcon and Samus have similar up tilts too.

Mii Fighters should be an exception I think.

Mii's are like a conglomerate of all the characters moves... and I hate it.....

They have some original things though. You kinda have to with 36 specials.

I read that as "Final Smash" and I got really confused as to why the Brawler would turn into Giga Bowser.

To be honest I figured the Miis would borrow from other characters.

I'm mainly bothered by Yoshi having it, personally. It just looks kind of unnatural on him, something he wouldn't reasonably have.

This attack in particular being spread stood out to me because we all know it was one of the deadliest attacks in Melee.

And I had no idea that Miis borrowed from Bowser at all... Huh.

Animation wise, they might be different. But they are both drop kicks and they both have the same charging animations.

Only difference is Bowser uses 2 feet while Mii's use one but they STILL fall to the ground in the same way, I HATE IT. BOWSER IS MY MAIN, NO CLONE BOWSERS PLZ.

I hate Bowser's new drop-kick F-Smash to begin with. The Mii's can keep it for all I care.

On topic, I agree with SaikYoshi; Yoshi's new Up-Smash is weird and doesn't fit the character.

I somehow missed the fact that Bowser's FSmash changed. I was imagining Mii Brawlers having an explosive headbutt :p

It's not an Fsmash. The Brawler's Fsmash is like Mario's, except it's just a punch.

The kick is a special, and the animation isn't the same.

Hey, I noticed this too.

Well, Guile's Flash Kick is one of the best specials in the entire Street Fighter series, so it's no surprise that a lot of characters have it in Smash.

i uh... what? have you played smash bros? fox-yoshi use flip kicks, mario uses a headbut, and pac man has a slow upward push of an 8 bit ghost. where are you getting your data? because it isn't from the smash bros disc. I feel like this whole post was translated from japanese using that old google babbelfish translator.

This thread is over six months old and I completely fail to see why or how it was bumped. I was misinformed at the time about the moves of the characters in the then-unreleased game.

Oh jeeze, failed to notice that. Can any mod's tuning in close this thread?
