Project M won't work on my Wii

I modded my Wii and I'm trying to use the homebrew version. I tried launching it twice with Brawl inserted. The 1st time it took me to the Wii startup screen and the 2nd time my console froze. I deleted Project M, reinstalled, and unzipped it to my SD card. I tried launching it again and it took me to the Wii startup screen. All of the folders and files are in the right place and my SD card is formatted to FAT32. how do I get Project M to work?
