Project M troubles

I really need help with this guys. So i download project m, and i did everything right, unzipped the file and background.png is supposed to be there, but is not. What did i do wrong and how do i get it there?

What do you need it there for? All you have to do is unzip, put the files on a 2gb SD card and you're good to go.

On every tutorial for downloading project m that i saw, there was a file called background.png that was there when nohomebrew.zip was unzipped. So it's not necessary then?

It is not necessary. I believe putting one in there just makes a custom background for the launch screen.
