Reorganized the Stage Select Screen to provide a better stagelist. The first row of stages are all starters, the second row are all counter-picks, and the third row are banned stages.
  • Yoshi's Story (Melee) is now a counter-pick.
  • Green Hill Zone is now a starter.
  • Distant Planet replaces Pokemon Stadium 1 to become a counter-pick. PS1 is now banned.
  • Metal Cavern replaces Skyloft to become a counter-pick. Skyloft is now banned.
  • Re-ordered the starters and neutrals in consideration with sizes and layout.
Stages with ceilings right next to their ledges have been made more lenient. I've gone through the following stages and redid the collisions so your character slides up the wall instead of bumping its head on a ceiling and dying. This will look a little weird at times when characters up b towards the ledge at a certain angle, but for the most part it behaves fine. There may be some clipping on some stages, but I think that's better than bumping your head and dying. If people start to exploit this and find glitches, I'll try to adjust the collisions further. I haven't removed all the ceilings, but I'd like to get some feedback on how this feels on these stages:

  • Lylat [In addition, I've also slowed the background animations of this stage down 25% for a slightly improved visual experience.]
  • Skyworld
  • Skyloft
  • Metal Cavern
[...]
Thoughts?
I'm trying out the build now, very curious about the new ledges, especially Skyworld and Lylat.

Haven't had the chance to try this out yet, but I think it would be a good idea to move this thread to the general discussion board. Based on how this new SSS is received, it'll influence what the SSS looks like in the next P:M update. I for one am happy PS1 is gone.

Yeah, wasn't sure where to put this. Was also suprised nobody else posted it yet, but since it's nothing official i figured it was just customized content, even if it comes from SOJ

In my opinion, these are the changes that you need to make.

1. Yoshi's needs to be put back on the starter row (meaning put GHZ back into the counter pick row). The Starter row was just fine how it was.

2. Replace Metal Cavern with Dracula's Castle on in the Counter Pick row (Reason for this being that there are already 3 small stages - WarioWare, Yoshi's Story, and Fountain of Dreams - and adding a fourth would favor characters that are good on small stages because of there only three stage bans).

I finally got around to playing around with it and I'm like what I'm seeing. I'll be posting this both here and on the Reddit page.

1. I for one am happy with the YS -> GHZ switch. I much prefer GHZ as a starter pillar stage and we already have 3 other stages with the starting triangle platform layout anyways. The slopes and Randal make YS more of a counterpick stage than a neutral in my opinion anyways.

2. The new collisions under Lylats edges are nice but kinda silly. I can recover with Marth from completely under the middle of the stage.

3. The Metal Cavern switch is pretty controversial. I can say that I too prefer Dracula's Castle to MC but having another stage of that size would give us way too many large stages. Too many large or too many small, I'd have to say the latter is the better choice for competitive play. Besides, 3 bans plus the rule where you can't return to a stage you've already won on unless agreed upon gives people the opportunity to actually ban all of the small stages (FoD isn't actually a small stage, it's blastzones are really far and helps characters with large recoveries like Samus/Pit).

4. I don't think I agree with Pictochat moving to page one, although I like all the changes you've made. Castle Siege did need to go though, the transformation was just awful.

5. I'd like to see Norfair given more of a chance. If anything, decreasing the distance the top platform rises in some of the latter transformations would help people realize it isn't really that large of a stage. It is definitely counterpick material.
