Project M loading only partially

I'm installing on a regular Wii (though I've tried it on the Wii U with the same results) with the Hackless Wifi version, using a FAT32 clean install on a 2GB regular SD card. I can load the P:M startup screen, but after starting, I get the regular Brawl UI and options, though combined characters are split apart as they normally are in P:M, like Shiek/Zelda. Ingame, I get a few of the P:M mechanics, like midair dodge causing helplessness, turbo mode (not sure), and dash attacks don't pick up items, but most of the content is missing. I don't have Mewtwo or the Blue P:M UI, and thus none of the stage options either. Stages that remain the same from Brawl load fine, but Stages that have been replaced (Luigi's Mansion) cause the game to freeze. I'm not sure what to do.

What I normally recommend to do when codes aren't working is to try loading via Gecko OS instead:

  • Install GeckoOS to your SD card (download link, copy the boot.elf from /Gecko1931/HBC/Gecko1931/ to your SD card root)
  • Load GeckoOS via the Stage Builder
  • Go to "Loader Config"
  • Change "Hooktype" to AXNextFrame
  • Save your settings
  • Return to GeckoOS main menu
  • Boot game

I really think the Project M custom loader should be shelved because it seems like it just causes so many issues for so many people. I'm not trying to dump on the P:M team's efforts, but it's really unnecessary, as Smash Stack and HBC are softmods that can be done 100% safely on any Wii or Wii U console.
