project m hackless version help

im a mac user and i recently downloaded the nonhomebrew zip for project m and when i start up the stage builder it loads up ok except the main menu looks like brawl and so does the title screen, but the player icons are separated with no mew two or roy either but characters like sheik and zelda are split up like they are in project m, any solutions? also game freezes if i try to change outfit colors. i also noticed that in the private folder the very last file in the folder becomes a .bin file but it cant be extracted at all, could this be part of the problem?
