BrawlEX currently doesn't work with 3.5, unfortunately. The places to check for an update would be in the PM Unbound thread on Smashboards and/or the PM D.I.Y. project on KC-MM. I believe Sikura and possibly jasgx are working on a new GCT that's compatible with BrawlEX while retaining all of PM's features. The GCT is the main roadblock, specifically finding all of the costume codes and cleaning them out currently. Once the GCT is done, then PM and BEX will be compatible, since that's what really determines when everything is set. Before that, you'll have to wait for PM 3.5 + BEX. 3.0 is fine, though.

Damn, making BrawlEx work with P:M seems like such a task. Is it hard to do every time there is a new release? Like when 3.6 or 4.0 or whatever are released will people be in the same place trying to fix the gct all over again?

Its a shame the P:M team isnt just making the gct work with brawlEx in the first place. I feel like it would be easier for them to do since they know their coding.

Intresting. Sadly, as @ TopazPhoenix TopazPhoenix said, BrawlEX doesn't work with 3.5. You'll either have to use 3.0 or wait for jasgx and everyone else. If you need it, I can host a 3.0 build download for you. I've downloaded like 10 different builds.
Good luck, mah fren.

Actually, all you need to do to make PM compatible with BEX is to remove any conflicting code and change a few files. The reason it takes so long is trying to dig through jumbles of numbers and letters to find something that might possibly have a chance at being the costume expansion for Olimar. Not to mention all of the other characters. Also, when 3.6 is released, it'll be more of a "bugfix" update rather than a content update. The codes most likely won't change, and even if they do, it'll be a small edit and the codes will be identified by then. Content updates that heavily impact the codes are the real issue.

Just a quick tip, make sure to test the characters before you start fully adding the characters, since physics engine mods can cause crashes for movesets designed for vanilla Brawl. Also, if you need any help adding cosmetics (names, pics) for EX characters, let me know.

I do need help with the names, pics, and a lil of portrait it's just a big job adding csps all alone but anyway yes they fully work it doesn't crash :) but start a conversation so we can talk about it

Ah good to know! Thanks for the info :p
That still leaves the point that it would be super nice of the P:M team to allow for BrawlEx to work with the game since like i said im sure they know what coding is where and what it does lol (dont get me wrong im not trying to ask for more, everything they do is beyond amazing, this would just be an extra perk for the community).

All this being said.. would changing any of the said coding affect anything else in project M? You mentioned costume codes for example (and other stuff), but if those are changed, would those costumes not work any more? how does all that work?

The reason certain codes need to be changed/removed is because many features of BrawlEX have the same or similar function as the codes, but if they coexist, they'll conflict with each other and beep loudly at you. For example, the fighter config files of BEX handle many abilities of the fighters, and also handle SFX and the costume number specifically, which the codes do. The costume codes have to be removed so that BEX does it instead. So no features are lost, just different methods. Also, the reason PM doesn't use BEX is because they use their own clone engine, which is private. The reason it's private like many of their codes is because the PM team is strangely uptight about their codes and their work, even though their game mod is public... It might have to do with Nintendo, and PM being popular, since they've stated that they'll only use characters that have appeared in the series up to Brawl. I still think the codeset should be public though, since it would be easier to add BEX, heck, if they had their clone engine public, which is supposed it be better, we could do so much more! But I guess it's hard having Nintendo peering over your shoulder to make sure your mod isn't better than Smash 4...

I'm sorry, I know I'm in the wrong place (can't figure out how to start a forum on my phone) but does anyone know how to change the shield color on the character select screen?
